"I try and prevent the conditions in which it starts.
A small container of rock salt works wonders on each sill to get rid of humidity. Alternating with bicarbonate soda.

It's good stuff, but definitely watch out for your paintwork! I used it on a small patch on a ceiling and luckily it was in a room I was yet to decorate so it was getting painted after anyway, but it did remove the mould and paint without any elbow grease.
Bought a dehumidifier now, not the cheapest option but it works wonders, running it for a couple of hours in the morning draws down the humidity from the night and a shower in the morning and no more mold. |

It pays for itself in the long term. "
Dehumidifiers are massively expensive and not really intended for long term use.
If you have a condensation problem and heat your home well, you need either better insulation or better ventilation, or both.
Positive Input Ventilation is a good option to get good air flow.

It depends on the cause. We have live near the sea close to marsh land, it became clear shortly after we moved in that there was no proper damp course and the only thing that keeps the mould at bay is ventilation, heating in the winter and always clearing condensation from the windows. We still have to deploy the Cillit Bang on the regular.
If you have a lot of insulation, double glazing and efficient draft excluders you're more likely to get condensation and therefore mould. |

My Grandad was a commoner. And he used to collect firewood. And had a varied collection of walking sticks. AND lived very near a place with "Crook" in the place name! |
