I like both, but I would say that I like to go to a cafe more, because I like the atmosphere and the vibe a bit more and you can also people watch which is fun. I go about 1 or 2 times a week to a cafe and to a restaurant more on occasions |

Is McDonalds or KFC an option? I guess could fall into either category - McCafe during the day when you want a quick cappuccino and transforming into restaurant in the evening for a three course meal. |

"Cafe probably.
I like informal restaurants where the atmosphere is relaxed."
Similar, done the whole fine dining thing and the element of pretentiousness was off putting ..
Plus I wanted vegetables with one main course and ended up with some arty farty sculptured dressing..

"I would take a greasy spoon over a Michelin star any day. I love the food in a top restaurant but I just find the whole “experience” thing too over the top. Plain and simple works best for me." That is good and same here. I also like it plain and simple too |

I used to hate cafes, but am coming round to them - i can still hear my mum saying 'wait until you get home - for a drink /sandwich'
... and not blowing my own trumpet but i often find i can cook better unless it's a fancy restaurant |

I prefer a café. I find them easier to go to by myself. I can get a coffee, a bit of cake if I fancy it and just enjoy my own company. With restaurants, I feel as though it's only better when you're with someone. |

Yes, I enjoy both, it just depends on what I am looking for.
I do like the more casual atmosphere of a cafe, and I agree, it does give a different view of people’s behaviour
But, a restaurant can be as equally enthralling, watching people in a more formal setting, or watching them as the try to impress, or to give a good impression |

One thing I don't like in restaurants or cafes is people who talk too loudly. It distracts me from my own conversation.
I don't like feeling uncomfortable or unsure about what to do but I've found that most places whatever their price bracket will go out of their way to ensure you don't feel uncomfortable. |

Cafe, I grew up on building sites. I feel more at home in a greasy spoon than a fancy restaurant |

"Both. Finances dictate that we go to cafes mote frequently than restaurants though
We enjoy all types as long as the food or coffee is good" That sounds good to me, that you also like both, yes same here, one can go to cafes more as it is cheaper than restaurants too |

It varies. Neither and both. I like good food, a good atmosphere. Somewhere I can enjoy myself, relax in to conversation with another.
Good food doesn't necessarily mean silver service and a high price tag. |

I didn’t realise we had to choose …
I appreciate quality, and love a good restaurant, the very best places produce amazing textures, flavours etc
But the top end places are an occasional treat, can’t eat like that all the time.
Same for greasy spoons … a good fry-up or bacon bap is fantastic, but can’t eat like that all the time either .
There’s a time a place for both of them in my life. |

There are 8 3 Michelin star restaurants in the UK. Realised recently that I have been to 6 of them.
I go to cafes too, but I love a good outing to a good restaurant, and restaurants feature a lot in travel plans. |

Nothing beats a good old fashioned Transport cafe, If you can find one that is.
On the restaurant front I have a preference for small family run establishments.
However with my son in law being of Chinese parentage and his family owning a couple of Restaurants I do seem to frequent them occasionaly. |

"Café hold no appeal for me whatsoever...I'm not the biggest restaurant goer, but an all you can eat buffet? Particularly if it's a Chinese one? Lush "
Not a fan of buffets, particularly in summer when flies get on them. Freshly cooked food is generally far more hygienic |

Yeah, I know some people have those misgivings, but I've never had that problem..and there are ones that do freshly cook, were the customers get to choose the ingredients |

I love a cafe as usually if I visit it's more for me to take some time to relax. I like how casual they are. I love restaurants too but prefer being left alone in a nice quiet cafe. |

But I’d go to a cafe with Mr and Mrs Nice from Nicecouple. An Italian one.
We haven't been recently. Fickle, that's us. "
Guess our group outing is OFF then |
