What is the worst Christmas film you have ever seen? I have a feeling the Netflix/Channel 5 style movies will be mentioned quite a bit.
I hated Santa Clause: The Movie and could never understand they hype about it when I was younger and Christmas With The Cranks was utter garbage. |

It's considered a christmas movie because the plot is set at christmas time. Personally I would only call a film a christmas movie if the central theme of the plot revolves around christmas or it's traditions.

It's so fucking depressing. A poor man's Christmas Carol.
A man gives up his dreams to make sure a town doesn't turn in to the shit hole that it really is. Without him around the people of the town show their true nature as people. |

I would say I didn’t give it that much thought but I had to for the sodding assignment!
The lecturer for that module loved both it and Frank Capra! But he still gave me a good mark as I made my argument well 
Best one is a toss up for me between
The family stone (though the ending makes me cry)
The family man (a rare decent Nick cage film but then I mainly watch for tea leoni  ) it’s a lovely film though. Also a sort of “Christmas Carol” narrative.
Can’t remember who with now but I was amazed to be talking to someone who didn’t know that “A Christmas Carol” was a book!

I bet it involves a go getting executive who has been so focused on her career to find love but she gets cut off in her small town hometown because of the snow and meets the widowed single dad of two saccharine sweet children and he teaches her that the things that really matter are right in front of you.

I’ve seen quite a few stinkers in the genre.
Some are somewhat forgivable in that they were low budget/made for TV movies that typically wallow in schmultz whilst simultaneously ramming the Christmas message down our throats (Channel 5 seems to broadcast a never ending list of the bloody things!)
But my ultimate vote goes to….
Fred Claus starring Vince Vaughn: Neither funny nor watchable.
A malodorous pile of ordure in fact.

The christmas horror Jack Frost is just awesome (or maybe awesomely awful ). A serial killer who is being taken to prison during a blizzard when there is a road accident with a tankerload of genetic mutation waste, which reacts with his body and the snow to turn him into a living snowman! Special effects which cost dollars to film! Scripted by a writer! (Well I guess there was a script, surely they didn't just make it up as they went along?) Famous Hollywood actors! (That's Hollywood, Nebraska, pop. 78 people). Directed by that guy! No, not that guy, the other one! The same guy that supplied the carrot for the snowman effects! Yes, that guy!!

Don’t know their name but when the mrs was on maternity leave she used to watch some low budget dire shit. You know the one they’re all the same story line, city girl moves to sleepy little town, at Christmas, falls in love with the recently widowed/ divorced depressed guy. Next thing you know it’s Christmas Day they’re married with a dog all is happy in the world.
I like to call those cringe Christmas films.
