Can I sleep with you tonight?

Jump to: Newest in thread

By (user no longer on site) OP    48 weeks ago

Have you ever been asked to simply sleep with someone or asked that of another person yourself? I don't mean someone you actually would normally sleep with such as your partner/child/lover. No sensual or sexual connotations. JUST sleep. For comfort. For safety. For a rough moment in life needing the smoothing feeling of the duvet, some zzzzs and a human by your side emitting some warmth - both physically and the caring kind?

I would imagine it's very rare. Am I right?

I honestly couldn't think of anything worse. Sharing a bed and not even getting sex? Just having to listen to their breathing and have them fidget arse about. Oh no.

I have a friend who I’ve shared a bed with on occasions. On some of those occasions we’ve had a spoon.

A cuddle is the only thing I miss about a normal relationship.

I have to say she’s the best big spoon ever. No funny business either.

Spoil sports. Two of you.

I reckon it could be quite therapeutic. It was asked of me once. I was actually fine with it. But then it became uncomfortable as the night went on. I've been happy to offer something innocent but someone had been in a bad place that time and had trouble maintaining boundaries. Something what had potential to be a great human-to-human moment in this off-track situation, got tripped sadly. Steve's post reminded me of it. The sleeping one

I really don't want to Google it but yes I do remember seeing snippets of documentary about places where people buy cuddle sessions. Just wondering! In the cyber world what will remain of human touch?

The day my Dad passed, Mam and I just flopped in to her bed when we got home and fell straight asleep. No talking or anything.

Wasn't until the morning we realised we'd done it subconsciously instead of me going to my own home or even in to my childhood bedroom

La la land

I've slept in a bed with 2 of my mates. My friends father had passed away, she had already lost her mum. And the 3 of us slept together with her in the middle. Think she wasn't ready to be alone and we didn't know what to say, and this was our way of saying we were there for her.

I did the same with my mum. Although, had her taken to my house. Put her to my bed and just hugged her there.

I slept several nights in a friends bed when her fiance cheated on her and she was broken. She just needed someone to make her feel safe and hold her.

I think its quite a normal thing to do really.

It’s amazing how many people think it’s all about sex, giving or receiving.

I shared a bed once, both fully clothed, with someone who lost their father in an accident.

Nothing sexual. Spent hours with them when it happened and both just went to sleep.

This seems to be not so rare after all. Coming close in grief. I find it too difficult to type out my experience of it but I appreciate the stories.

Oh no that wouldn’t be for me. Parents, my kids/siblings/close friends yeah but someone I didn’t know really really well, no! That sounds like a nightmare for me. Besides there’s people better than me at the sympathy thing. I’m not the best. Giving or receiving. I’ll do the practical bit.

I can only sleep with the hubbers. If he’s not around I much rather sleep on my own. I don’t even allow my kids in my bed. I did, begrudgingly when they were small, but now that they’re teens they can stay in their rooms.

Never been asked to sleep with someone and I’d say no if I were asked. I value my personal space too much.

Oh gosh. Time and place eh? The other side of coin is that he felt comfortable enough to ask you. You must have made him feel safe. Or you think he was hoping for more? And he simply crossed boundaries?

Yes it was a bit weird. We were travelling with family in another cabin, luckily a deck above, so thought the call was an emergency one from them.

He did text and apologize the next day saying he was d*unk and alone in his cabin but we didn't repeat the fun with him.
