Constructive Criticism

Somewhere In The Ether…

Good folks: How do you feel when the above is offered to you? (it could be from friends/family/work colleagues etc) Also, are you likely to take it onboard and act upon it?

Do you actively seek it out from others or else is it something you do not like and you are more likely to be hurt by it?

Finally, what about constructive criticism on here?

Please discuss

"Shite thread!!!

Ohhh ok - if its offered in good faith and from a position of genuinely trying to help then its welcome and should be considered by the recipient - you don’t have to act on it but you shouLd consider it

If I feel it is genuine yes. Some people try to pass off being abusive, unhelpful, or simply mean as constructive criticism . Some people take constructive criticism as offensive.

I'll listen to what somebody has to say and use my own judgement on if I think they are genuine or unhelpful. Then I will ponder if what they say holds much weight. I will offer my own criticism when and how I feel fit. That person doesn't need to act on it if they don't want to of course.

I appreciate it being given, people are welcome to do so. Just be warned you may not always get the reaction you hoped it would be.

On here I don't seek it or accept it because the few times it has been offered it was destructive dressed as constructive from people who thrive on influencing others.

Elsewhere I don't seek it but if offered by someone with an equal or greater degree of experience in something I will consider it.

If it's offered by someone who hasn't a clue I will ignore it.

On the odd occasion it has been offered by someone not involved with what I was doing but they could see a different approach from another angle and in those cases it has helped.

Right behind you…. Boo

Constructive criticism is great if it’s wanted or needed. Otherwise it’s just criticism.

And for the record, cumming quickly CAN be a good thing….

I'll take it from family and friends and act on it if I think it's fair. People I don't know well on the internet? Not a chance, nobody knows me well enough to be constructive

Advice is only advice when it’s asked for.

On here no. Neither would I ask for it. From people I care about I would absolutely take it on board.

I love constructive criticism as long as you are not just being a c*nt.

You notice that, if someone wants to help you or it's just personal or gender based hate.

I won't ask for it anymore probably.

I received an extremely detailed one last week.

I changed/removed /downgraded a lot of things since that.

Most uncomfortable I could get from a stranger.

The person was either d*unk, high or just absolutely evil.

It's like you're kicking a wounded animal, salt in the scars...etc.

I would get my back up immediately but take it on board ultimately. That person needs to have a relationship with me though, I will not take it from someone who doesn't know me enough to do so.
