Space 1999
It was the only sci-fi on SABC TV when I was a kid. (We only got TV in South Africa in 1976). I lived for Friday night, when it was on - dubbed into Afrikaans as "Alpha 1999".

I think it was called the story teller. Every now and then the teens song pops in my head.
"I'm the story teller and my stories must be told, I have many stories;tales for both the young and old..." |

Did you see the programme on it? On youtube I think, from a woman's perspective. The were talking about the constant crazy costume changes, as a group of them all had to wear the same bizarre things. I can't quite remember it myself, but there was more to the show that I thought.

Weirdly it's Butterflies, I think I had a crush on Wendy Richards. And who doesn't enjoy Dolly Parton? I also used to watch the Open University and Question time too, both so h*pnotic. On Saturday mornings you had to channel hop I think to get Tizwas, Batman and Wacky Races. Sometimes your favourite stuff slightly overlapped, and you always needed ITV to catch some adverts too. pt |

"Noddy from The Magic Round About....I did love him ha & had a toy of him too...."

I was thinking about the other day weirdly. I used to have a book and it was quite satirical. I sometimes think of a 'chitty from the committee' (said Dougal). Did you know it was completely re-written from the original French by Emma Thompson's dad, Eric Thompson? I don't think he actually knew any French so just made up his own stuff, then he got to narrate it. pt |

"Beyblade "
Modding blades and playing with friends was a lot of fun!
Black Dranzer, Kai - so cool.
I only have good memories of the original series though, not the reboot with completely new characters and blades. |

I've seen a couple of YouTube pieces on it. It had more of a cult following than I thought. They brought in a different show runner for season two, and he almost completely redesigned the show. This explains why it felt like a different show to me on season two. Also, his changes were a bit bizarre and he effectively killed the show off.
I watched a few from season one again recently (the whole season was on YouTube but got pulled) - god it's actually dire. The dialogue is unbelievably bad, the narrative has more holes than a colander, and the science is a total shocker. I still remember it with fondness. |

"Dr who with William Hartnell very scary lol" Yes and after him I remember Patrick Troughton too. Cybermen scared me and also killer foam in London tube tunnels! My other early memories were Casey Jones and Danger Man |
