Do you use the wink button?
I never look at winks but I’m going to start looking at them.
Why do you wink? Too shy to message? Hoping they’ll start a conversation? Wink everyone in the hope at least someone will message?
Do tell. I’m intrigued |

I winked someone for the first time in ages the other day because I couldn’t bring myself to message them
I haven’t heard anything back. I’m not doing that again |

Yes I do.
I wink to see if they wink back, if they do I'll message them.
I view it as a non invasive way to say hey I like the look of your profile, if I get one back I assume the feelings mutual. Then I'd message.
Works the other way round too.
Sometimes I skip the wink and just go in like a cold caller. Not my best move to be be fair. |

Though I find most people wink me then do anything after I wink back. Then wink again 3 weeks later or so. Usually results in me ignoring or messaging asking why are you winking twice |

I do this too. Though I wink first if I like a profile.
Its just a quick show of interest that if it's not mutual is less effort and time used.
Eyes meeting across a room type of thing. An indication that conversation/first message will be replied to (though not guaranteed!). |

I wink.
I use it as a test the water type thing, maybe as I’m not sure we match (distance maybe etc) but I fancy them …. See if they take a look at my profile and go from there
If I think I match someone I’d rather try a message as I feel that would more likely get a response than a wink |

We use them a lot! Great way of showing interest without agonising over that first message just to find there is no reciprocated attraction.
It says hey we like the look of you, if you like the look of us wink back and then we will always message with pics etc. |

We love winks!
They’re a good way to show interest without sending a message. So if we wink then we wait to see if we get one back and then we message. Or if we get a wink we then message them

Feel like it breaks the ice a bit and shows interest, works well if both use it. Otherwise I’ve typed a message for nothing |

I wink at someone when I have read their profile and like what I see.
If our interest are aligned, I send a friend invite. (I don’t understand why people are so precious about sending a friend invite prior to chatting)
If I have something to say beyond the aforementioned expression of interest I then send a message. Sometimes to request connecting and other times to simply compliment someone. |

Yes I/ we like a good wink. It's a simple show of interest for us, if there's mutual winking then we'll send a message. We've had quite a few instances of receiving winks and returning them then hearing nothing back, even after a message too Is this a new for of attention getting?

I tend to use it as an expression of interest to chat, especially when there is very little text to go on with their profile.
Single guys get more or less instantly judged based on their first line of their first message so if there is little to no information to go on then a wink gives the indication and also an opportunity for the other party to start the conversation based on something on your profile.

We wink to show an interest, or to acknowledge we like their profile.
If we get a wink back we’ll message.
If nothing then we assume they’re not interested.
Some of our best friendships have started from a simple wink. |

I(mr) wink primarily as a means of gauging interest, if we get a wink back then we will strike up a conversation, if not then so be it.
It can be a useful tool. |

Winking is basically “I’m not wasting time crafting a witty funny response if you won’t even see it, let me know you’ve seen this wink and at least think my profile is decent enough for a reply, and I’ll throw an opening message together” |

I'm not a proactive winker
I think if a profile gains my interest enough the couple of minutes to scribe a message is a worthwhile investment
If someone winks me, I message a brief message back |

Always happy to receive winks, I see it as a welcome compliment - like a fabbed photo.
If I think they're a good match I'll typically message in response but I do sometimes wink back as a thank you.
I only tend to send winks if I find their profile appealing but I'm not sure I'm what they are looking for. The ball is then in their court to decide whether to instigate a conversation or not. I prefer that to sending them a message saying "I'm probably not your type but..." |

I am a winker.
It’s not because I am shy or lazy. I don’t wink to everyone either in a hope of someone to reply.
Single ladies and couple as far as I was told are flooded with messages. I don’t want to be another message they didn’t read because there are too many. I wink to gauge initial interest. If I get wink back or fab on any of my pic I’ll surely send a message.
It’s like in a real world, everything starts with eye contact, wink or a smile. You don’t come to people you fancy there with big meaningful speech how great they look and how great fuck you are holding your dick pic. |

I send winks usually only if there's a wink someone you fancy thread or if their profile mentions they like winks. In my experience, it's very likely I'll be writing the first message anyway (because of wink backs) but it's a good way to know they're potentially interested. Statistically, I've received more first winks than first messages for sure. |

Mostly a few minutes before messaging, then I watch the reactions.
Fabing photos before the wink usually.
Some wink back or check me out, but some blocks me.
Rather have a wink ignored, than a message.
Sent message read and deleted immediately is the crusher, so usually I block them for many reasons.
Never wink blank profiles/everyone.
Never send dick pics, unless asked.
Kind of gave up in my area, so just hanging out on the forum.
Hope it helps with your research.

A wink is a good sign of interest we don’t mind getting them gives us chance to check out the profile then message if we like them too, saves the time of writing out a message that won’t be replied to if there’s no interest. |

Occasionally. Most of the time if we make the first move we’ll message but occasionally will wink if we really like the look of a profile but not sure we’re what they look for. |

I'll wink if I see a profile that has pretty much nothing on it and it leaves me with nothing to ask, but their profile pic catches my eye. Or if someone catches my eye but I'm not quite what they ate looking for.
Saw a profile that had the headline "Read the profile" but the profile had no text. If they'd had a pic, I'd have winked.
Oh and always up for a forum game wink! |

I wink at people, I think of it as catching someone's eye across a crouded room and smiling at them, if they look away you just move on but if they were to smile back at you you'd go and at least try to talk them. Well that's my philosophy for using winks. |

I like the odd wink both giving and receiving. It’s a hard one, women get so many messages, so I like to send a wink to gauge if there would be an initial interest. Of course more than happy with effort in a first message. I guess a fine balance |

I wink, it’s like an informal hi, if you wink back I’ll usually reply with a message and chat. Hopefully.
I understand people might dislike them, I don’t see what’s to dislike though. Some people get so shouty on profiles about not liking them and I’ve read in threads before about them not being welcome.
But If life’s to hectic you can’t just accept a wink and maybe check out a profile after receiving one then you’re to busy to be on here in the first place. |

I think winks are underused and sadly underrated as as a system.
We all have profiles and we all (I assume) don't like wasting time. To me a wink is purely an efficient way of someone saying I've seen your profile, I like it, check mine out and if you like what you see let's chat.

In theory I think the wink feature is great. It’s expressing an interest without the need to overthink an initial message.
I don’t look at them because I’m not meeting. Plus anyone that knows me will appreciate what an absolute dick I’d look if I actually winked at anyone. As a pan faced non flirt it’s not something I’d ever use. |

I wink when I don't have the time to write a message or when the profile has nothing I can pick up on.
Sometimes I just feel like it.
Don't understand why women and couples on here get so riled up about them. It's a great way to show interest without having to fill up their inbox. They can take a look, if htey like you, too, they wink back and then you can write a message. But alas! They are not very appreciated in these parts |

Don't understand the logic. Why stop winking back just because the majority doesn't follow up on it? It's not any effort.
Some may, and then it worked. Or do you only want to show interest when you can be almost 100% sure that it will be successful? Don't really see the risk of winking someones profile back tho. |

Quite happy to give and receive winks.
It's a great way to show interest.
A wink doesn't automatically mean we want to play with someone but it's a good indicator that maybe we have some common ground. location, shared kinks or looking for similar experiences.
I don't quite understand the vehement way some people get over winks. However those people we know to avoid. If you're going to get mardy about a legitimate function on here, what else will you get mardy about? |

I use it as a way to initiate a conversation, I ma not being lazy doing it. Just don’t always want into someone’s in box immediately . If they check out my profile and wink back then all good, if they don’t I will leave it be for a while, maybe send a message depending on how I feel

I use the wink button in the first place to see if the other person might be interested. I used to just send messages, but when you take the time to write something and do t get a reply it can be really frustrating. A wink seems a good way to register interest - unless people don’t check them of course!! |

I wink first to show my interest, rather than dive straight in eith a message.
Probably the wrong thing to do as a lot of people's say winks will be ignored. But feel it's a lot simpler than writing out a paragraph to be ignored anyway |
