Think it might be the early morning starts in the dark but I'm a bit on the lethargic side today.
So it got me thinking what makes you feel powerful? Is it the session in the gym? Finishing the seemingly neverending pile of washing? Capturing that perfect picture? Making someone laugh? Getting a task completed at work?
What gives you the mini highs in life? |

It’s probably a common one for anyone that likes a self-help book but for me, it’s routine in the morning. Get up, make my bed, water, coffee, stretch/yoga and some form of exercise. It starts me off in a great mood and ready to take on the challenges of the day |

Starting the day with some coffee and music helps me.
Long walks with the dog and being out in daylight if I can.
Gym sessions.
Surrounding myself with positive people.
Laughter. |

That's always good I agree. But maybe I didn't explain myself right, what are the little accomplishments during the day you that give the feeling yay me I got that done? |

Oh my bad. This is sad but I make daily to-do lists. The winning feeling of ticking them off as I go makes me feel positive and like I’m achieving.
What about you OP? |

Those are lacking though so I'm unmotivated
I mean I would send you one, but that would probably make the situation significantly worse. "

Definitely not sad, I do the same. Ticking things off the list is very satisfying. But getting washing dried on the washing line feels like a win at the moment. Yep I am that sad |

The right song for any moment. A playlist to describe a mood is a mini-win for me. Often I can change my mood with music. If I'm unmotivated to wash up then my cheesy fondue playlist makes it less of a chore and sometimes actually fun.

"Inspiring conversations with wonderful people.
Sexual arousal
Meat!
Spice
Gosh yes a good conversation is amazing. Meat? As in a good steak? "
A good steak certainly takes top spot, when it comes to meat. A nice Ribeye, medium-well, seared so the marbling cooks and fills the meat with flavour. Garlic butter.
I may have just growled a little. |

A Frida thread!
People. Whether it's in a work capacity, relationships of any kind, family. Even random strangers when you have that brief interaction and never talk again. People rejuvenate, revitalise, motivate and fascinate me endlessly.
It can be a lovely message from a friend. That genuine mirth, the laughter that tumbles out of someone's mouth when I've genuinely tickled them. Little notes of smut, of potential.
The praise when work is done well. Or other things please someone...
Helping another person, being that support for them. Cheerleading on my friends with boundless energy and joy at seeing them succeed and happy.
There are little things like going to the gym and seeing the comparison photos. Completing tasks. The main one though? It will always be people for me. |

I love that you have a list Meli. And I think it's important we tally these positives up.
This thread was brought about something I saw online, about glimmers (had to go look for it again, after starting the thread). Which they described as being the opposite of triggers. Glimmers are those moments in the day that make you feel joy, happiness, peace or gratitude. And they reasoned that the more you train yourself to spot them the happier you would feel. I kinda guess it's a bit like it's easier to see the negatives in life than the positives. |

It’s got to be the feedback of routine.
Getting up and making the bed, getting to the gym / workout before work, cleaning & tidying whether that be indoors or the garden. Those little wins throughout the day just add to the ability to relax in the evening knowing it’s all been done. |

A newly repotted plant or some propagated babies make me feel productive and creative and a bit high if I'm honest. I feel like a failure at many things, but I get this thing right. Plant Power!

Yes this is perfect. With how my life works I have to be a bit more flexible about sticking to routines. But nothing beats going to sleep thinking I've cleared my list |

Oh I've just tried propagating my string of hearts, it's currently not looking good. The ivy I did though is looking good. I love how calming plants can be |

My string of hearts carked it! They're tricky buggers aren't they? My string of turtles is looking good. It's a newish hobby for me and I'm a little obsessed!

Making my little one laugh. Taking a photograph that I feel proud of. Knowing I’ve helped relieve some of the pressure from Ailsa. Being in bed with Ailsa everyday, regardless of whether there is sex. When a favourite author releases a new book. Finishing my yoga practice when I do it every day. The first cup of coffee in my favourite cafe. Getting up before dawn. Writing my stories. Sitting on the train when I go to London for breakfast with my writers group. The first kiss when I haven’t seen a lover for a couple of weeks. I could go on. Life is full of little highs |
