Conflicted. I think breakfast, lunch and dinner but we often refer to the evening meal as tea around here. Though you would not really say I went out to tea, do you? And if so, should it be refered to as evening tea not to confuse it with thr afternoon one?  |

People who drink tea may have an afternoon/evening tea between lunch and dinner, but for me, I just call it evening snack. |

Lunch, or if breakfast is not taken then lunch becomes Brunch.
Dinner, although in my circle of friends we now refer to it as Supper and most invitations are for Supper not Dinner.

Where I come from (the colonies) it's supper.
Tea is a drink, or scones and Earl Grey at 4pm.
Dinner is a more formal evening meal, either in a restaurant, or to mark an occasion if had at home (cooking dinner for your love, for example)
I still think it's odd to hear it called tea. |

It depends. Dinner refers to the main meal of the day, whereas Tea is a time-based description.

When I was a kid in school it was breakfast, dinner (dinner ladies), tea.
Now am an adult it is breakfast, lunch (lunchtime), tea.

If I go out to eat in the evening I say I went out for tea. Nobody where I live would even think I meant afternoon tea.
Afternoon tea is an occasional treat and always given its full title whereas just saying tea means your evening meal. |

I grew up with hot meals as dinner cold food such as sandwiches, lunch or tea depending on what time of day. Monday to Saturday its always lunch/diner Sundays are diner/tea. |

If you have a snack mid morning it's called brunch not brinner
Plus you have a lunch break at work or a tea break not a dinner break.
There will always be this divide between north and south |
