I saw a post on social media about how a customer at a restaurant got angry at a waitress for calling her husband sweetheart.
I don’t use these names and on fab prefer to address someone by the name or initial on their profile. On fab though, many people will explicitly state on their profile that they hate being addressed with such pet names.
If you’re a person who hates this, I was wondering what about the pet names makes you feel so strongly and negatively toward them? It seems like it’s more than “oh that’s annoying” and more “fuck off if you call me x, x, or x”. |

I can't say there's any I hate as such, but it's all context. If a sweet old lady in a shop called me sweetheart that would be fine, and probably quite endearing. If a leary man called me it I'd probably feel a bit grubby and uncomfortable |

I use babe and dude with people I speak to or know (regardless of their gender ).
There are a few that irritate me like trouble or darling, but I hate it when people the same age or younger than me call me dear though - that’s something my nan would say, just all kinds of wrong |

I don't really have the energy space to worry about these things but from what I've seen..
Men - use pet names to establish fast intimacy or because they don't have a clue what your name is.
Women - welcome pet names from people they fancy, people they don't are creeps. |

It's very over familiar for a first message. I am a stranger and my name is visable on my profile. I find it just odd, if I'm honest.
Once I'm comfortable with someone then I am not so bothered by it. |
