I’m about as much use as a chocolate teapot when it comes to DIY!!
I’m so jealous of anyone that can do it….I feel DIY is a life skill I have totally fucking screwed up on!! |

It’s more so just learning as you go really, when I was a kid I used to rip apart random things and build it again but the amount of times I broke them are countless, if u ever need something fixed just go on YouTube/google and give it a go |

Replaced radiators, fixed multiple components of a toilet, (helped) install a full bathroom, rewired plugs, changed a shower, hung a shelf (and it's still up |

When I became single I took a couple of short courses the college had on. On on basic home maintenance and one on car maintenance. They've served me pretty well. |

I do enjoy it though "
So you’re good with your hands?
I’m fair to middling too. Have own tool kit, drill, spanner and socket sets, screwdrivers etc. Can use rawlplugs correctly, build ikea stuff myself. |

Oh yes I love power tools Granted, most DIY jobs I undertake don’t really require anything major but I always like to get my trusty DeWalt drill out whenever possible and feel instantly macho. Grrrrrr! |

"I'm OK, done a bit of labouring for a builder before and learnt a a fair bit. Never tried plastering though. "
That is because plastering is an art and you need to be doing it aa lot to get the feel for it. |

Agreed it looks like there's a knack to the wrist action and arc as you smooth it out. I've done a bit of tiling all be it small ones, I don't fancy doing the bigger slabs. |

It's also about leving it go of to a point then wetting it back up so you get the fat out to polish it.

"I am hero and zero. I can build and fix things (carpentry, cars, boats etc) but using a drill to hang stuff up is a skill I can never master.
So... good with your hands then ?? "

I can use a drill. I’ve put up a shelf and various other bits. I didn’t use one of those things you use to see if it’s straight though, if it looks straight then that’s good enough for me. So, my shelves might be on the wonk.
I don’t use a tape measure either. I guesstimate which can lead to a lot of cut off wastage or things with a slight *cough* gap where there shouldn’t be one.

Luckily my granda is an engineer. Was taught fabrication from scratch at an early age.
On the other hand my uncle owns a building business, so I can give anything except plastering a go. Credit to them fellas/ladies. I'm a spark by trade.
YouTube like others have said is a great tool given you get the right source that comply with UK standards, at least that's how I look at it. |

I am intelligent enough to learn how to do DIY.
Because of body pain and weakness I can't physically do things like change a car wheel or paint a ceiling.
I did all the wiring of plugs, unblocking toilets and u-bends, and minor car stuff.
I'm not good with angles though |
