Alternative Exercise Equipment

There’s been a plethora of weird and wonderful (and not so wonderful in many cases!) contraptions over the years that have all promised to tone us up, burn fat, strengthen our bodies and bulk us up like Hercules.
Equipment such as resistance bands, Ab rollers and Bullworkers are well known and certainly, during lockdown, sales of such shot up ten fold after gyms were closed.
Good folks: If you have used any alternatives to free weights, what have you tried and how would you rate it?

"a pick and shovel ..couple of months labouring work will get you as fit if not fitter than any gym goer"
It'll get you fit at shovelling stuff. This is great if you like to shovel stuff. |

Pull up bar.
Resistance bands.
Press up board.. You can move the handles to target diff areas more... Tris/ back etc.
Another good one I saw was getting a deck of cards and flipping each card at a time... Whatever it shows you need to do that amount of squats / press-up / sit ups... Until you go through the full deck

There’s been some rather gimmicky fads over the years which are admittedly rather interesting.
Equipment such as Gyro balls for instance.
I’ve never used one personally so cannot verify as to their efficacy; has anyone here ever had a go?

They are actually quite good for forearms, it’s just that they build a different type of strength as oppose to building muscle |

I’d imagine they’re great for endurance
I watched a rather funny video of a guy purporting to be breaking a world record with one.
Full kudos to him but the look on his face as he used it was much akin to someone straining particularly hard on a toilet |

Uphill wheelchairing. Brilliant for the shoulders, upper back, core and triceps. |

Kettle bell, Sand Bag, Slam ball, Battle ropes, Punch bag, tractor tyre & resistance bands are my friends at home!… there’s something to be gained from simple but effective body weight exercises too! Everyone will have a preference, just do what feels right for you, so long as you’re moving … |

I saw an odd device on one of the shopping channels a few months ago.
It resembled some scales which when one stands upon, vibrate and apparently (so the viewer was promised) burn calories like you wouldn’t believe.
Efficacious? I know not but it was rather funny to watch them demonstrate it whilst trying to talk at the same time |

Lifting my neice and nephew over my head when they were little , or bench pressing them. Decent workout but noisy and I got tired before they did |

Probably as effective as those electrical pad things that 'stimulate the muscles'. Gives you a six pack while you're sat on the sofa. |
