Transsexual Transylvania |
Traditional, with black peasant shirt and leather breeches. Or with a frilly white shirt and jabot, and a cloak. Or a beautiful midnight blue dress and cowled cloak.
Modern day, black leather and long coat, or a gorgeous neo-Victorian outfit.
Bitey, bitey... |

I like either monstrous and grotesque or the smart Victorian style.
I’m not a fan of the modern ‘partying vampires’ such as those night clubbing sorts in Blade (although will forgive The Lost Boys) |

"Grotesque like the vampire in Nosferatu? Strong and handsome like Christopher Lee? Eternal teenagers? Modern day or flouncing around in baggy white shirts? "
Hang on, baggy white shirts, looking like Tom and Brad? I can think of worst. |

It really depends on my mood.
If I'm feeling a bit angry, a bit gosh people are the utter worst I like the full on demonic vampires with a hint of mythos about them. Like Akasha. Or Salma Hayek's perfect turn in Dusk 'til Dawn.
If I'm ovulating/high libido I love the incredibly passionate, heightened emotions vampiric trope. Like Klaus from The Originals (even though he's a hybrid I'm ignoring the lycanthropy). Or Spike. Definitely Spike.
If I'm in an existential crisis, I love the tortured existence vampire a la Tom Hiddleston and Tilda Swinton.
My comfort vampire is the gentleman with an animalistic, primal side that's barely concealed - Dracula in text, Gary Oldman's interpretation. You get the idea.
Oh and the Colin Robinson standard of vampire. Who doesn't love their energy being sapped from them by a tedious soul? Only crazy people wouldn't like that.

I especially loved the incredibly creepy look of the vampires in Tobe Hooper’s adaptation of Stephen King’s, Salem’s Lot (1979).
Talking of which….where has the new film version got to?
It’s apparently completed and was successful in front of test audiences about a year or two ago but has now seemingly completely disappeared! |

I think we can all agree the Twilight vampire (sparkling and shine) is by far the worst.
The general Buffy/Underworld vibe of vampire. I guess in a way it is all from the Anne Rice style of Vampires. They moved with the times and fit the time period they are in. Human looking with a souless demonic nature.
Special shout out to Van Helsing (Hugh Jackman) take on Vampires and werewolves (one of the best cgi werewolf transformations).
Another shout out to Legacy of Kain. |

The Salem's Lot vampires are strongly influenced by Count Orlock in the silent film Nosferatu. |

Absolutely; I’d still say that Count Orlok is the creepiest looking vampire ever committed to the screen even after all these years.
An honourable mention also for another of the scariest looking vampires: Grace Jone’s final vampiric form in Vamp |

I know, I know. I'm a dork. I did actually edit it down because I realised that even I should have limits if I want to have sex again. |

I don't think you need worry on that score. Anyone posting in this thread probably finds the idea of someone having such a detailed knowledge of vampires hot. Admittedly you might want to keep it quiet outside of this thread. |

Eric in Trueblood. Absolutely yes please.
Grace Jones in Vamp!
There have been some really lesser know vampire novels that have absolutely done me in.
Queen of the Damned - super super sexy.
Van Helsing - super super sexy.
What we do in the shadows - genius.
Oh I could vampire all night |

Eric in True Blood, yes please. Always had a bit of a soft spot for Brad Pitt in Interview with a Vampire. Not Tom Cruise though.
For comedy performance, Leslie Nielson as Dracula in Dracula dead and loving it |

"I lean towards the more grotesque vampires rather than the handsome or beautiful, but if you can mix some sadness at what they have become in with the monstrousness, that's also a sweet spot."
The late Klaus Kinski portrayed a tragic and tormented/grotesque vampire to perfection in Werner Herzog‘s very good remake/reworking of Murnau’s classic: Nosferatu The Vampyre.
He reprised the role once again in The Vampire In Venice which, whilst not as good was still certainly watchable and Kinski especially, was great |
