What is a SLAG and is it an insult?
Jump to: Newest in thread
I'll fly the flag on this one
If a SLAG is Sexually Liberated And Glorious then yup I'm good with it. I also recognise that everyone I've ever met in a swingers club does the same as me so they must also be a FABulous SLAG so it cannot possibly be an insult - right? I mean nobody could possibly be insulting their own pals like that right?
So, what is a SLAG to you and do you use it at an insult (not including when it was used in the schoolyard, I mean whilst you've been old enough to vote lol!) |

Slag is a by-product of smelting ores and recycled metals. Slag is mainly a mixture of metal oxides and silicon dioxide. Broadly, it can be classified as ferrous, ferroalloy or non-ferrous/base metals. Within these general categories, slags can be further categorized by their precursor and processing conditions.

I'd find this really sexy if it wasn't copied and pasted. Which I fear it is. |

I don’t use it as an insult but I’m very weary about using language like that to describe women that way and feel weird hearing it unless they describe themselves that way in a reclamation of the word. I think slag and slut, are insulting terms that have been reclaimed and I think are fair to be used positively by women.
I may use the term slut to refer to myself jokingly or in relation to ethical sluthood but other than that it’s probably something I’d steer clear of.

I agree, I take it as a compliment to be called a SLAG, I'm clearly enjoying my life in a glorious way, what's not to love about that! |

I don't use it personally
I do find it insulting, if a woman wants to refer to herself as one then its her choice.
Personally I don't think of myself in that way neither do I see men a community dick |

The term slag originated as the above poster said and most steelworks had a "slag heap" where the byproducts slag where heaped up into mountain sized heap's hence the term "thrown on the slag heap" I can only assume that it was then shortened to be used as an insult "slag" at a later stage.
I think the difference between a slag and a slut is possibly (and I'm guessing here) slag is pretty useless and ugly looking material that no-one wants, where as a slut is someone who's open minded enough to admit they love the D.
So in summary I wouldn't like to refer to anyone lady or otherwise as a slag unless they specifically requested it.
Same as slut but that seems more of a trendy phrase these days.
I think?

All words are subject to interpretation
There’s a million things that go into a word that makes up its meaning
Laughing and calling your mate a slag is very different to a dirty looking and calling someone you don’t know at the club a slag. Just a look can be an insult if you do it right
Rather then attaching arbitrary labels to words, understand that intention is the most important thing |

I'd never call anyone a slag. In my mind it conjures up (and yes this is a problematic bias and I can own that) a woman with a slightly erm something accent, wearing a lot of makeup and with a particular approach to sex. And veris that back that up. I'd never call someone a slag though because... it's problematic.
I don't know why I feel more comfortable with the term slut. Perhaps it's because it's been reclaimed and used by my friends a lot. Perhaps because of my problematic perception differentials; a slut to me is someone who enjoys a lot of sex. I make jokes about going through my slutty phase currently but I'd never call it a slaggy stage. |

Community dick is amazing! As is he's for the street. I use mantart to describe certain men's behaviour but I prefer community dick. It works. |

A word with lots of meanings bit like lots of words but for me calling a woman a slag isn’t nice. Can’t easily think of a situation where it would be nice.
If you want to use a word for sexually liberated and free woman maybe “slutty” is better but I am not sure as I type
Perhaps follow the famous quote “if you can’t say something nice don’t say anything” |

Hmm interesting, you're right, it's totally problematic as I've heard of women calling other women a slag - for doing exactly the same things (or less) that they and their 'mates' do! I see it as either a childish insult if said for those reasons, or recognition of me being gloriously sexually liberated and loving life lol!
Yeah I get you on the slutty phases, we all go through them right? Lol! |

Not everybody knows how to be nice lol! I'd like to think that most people in this scene are sound, with the occasional off day, however, that doesn't always appear to be the case! A genuine smile and a kind word go a long way - in all areas of life me thinks |

It's quite a bitchy term as far as insults go, isn't it? I just wouldn't stoop to using that to describe another because they're having sex. So what if they are? Good for them. As long as I'm not being hurt or lied to, I don't really care how many cocks someone wants to gag on in a night. Or ride until they're an aching sore mess.
Slutty phases are the best! I'm aware that my version of slutty possibly doesn't match others, I'm a bit boring. Slutty for me maybe? Sod it though. Sex is to be enjoyed. There's something so liberating about meeting fantastic people for great sex and it being easy. Fun. Really fucking hot. Long live your slutty years OP. |

Unfortunately, SLAG doesn’t mean sexually liberated and glorious. It is generally seen as a derogatory term. No, I’ve never used it.
In better news, and irate motorist wound down his window recently and shouted at me that I was a Committed User of New Technology, which was nice. I smoked and thanked him, which seemed to annoy him. |

Honestly it's just a word. A slang word at that. Get over it.
If somebody wants to refer to themselves, and be called it then go for it, enjoy it and own it. Fuck what other people think. Their opinions should mean as little to you as their opinion on anything else. Would you care on their opinion on what you should name a baby, a dog, what colour curtains or wallpaper you should get? |

As in

Women who enjoy sex and have multiple partners should be honored so if slag refers to them then slag can be used as a term of empowerment and pride. I like women who love being called a slag but I understand it has a negative attachment to them. I am a male slag and love it |

In the right setting I don’t mind being called the 3-4-5 letter bad words during it or afterwards
But once they leave then that privilege leaves with them
Also I am allowed to refer myself to them at any point
I tend to just refer to them as the 3-4-5 lettter bad words so people don’t just randomly message me that
3 letter would be hoe 4 letter would be slut slag tart and what not 5 is whore
If someone dose randomly call me it
I have a awwsome come back for it
Yes you got that right I am a insert “witch ever bad word they called me” and I am damm proud off it hi at leas us insert “witch ever bad word they called me” have all the fun but man it must be a real bad day when the insert “witch ever bad word they called me” will not go to bed with you |

I wonder if it’s the fact that it is the waste product, basically the unwanted bit after it’s served its purpose? |

Slag is what is thrown away ..... it's useless , no one wants it, it's the bottom of any pile .....
Can refer to metals or coal etc .... any material worked with and the detrius is the lowest of the low and has no value whatsoever...
So.... NO I do not like the word slag attached to anyone not just women. |

It's an insult in all shape and form. No one would call someone that without suggesting they 'sleep around' or judgement of their character so its always a negative context. |
