Probably one of the most important and influential empires to exist through history. As they say, all roads lead to Rome
So fairly often. The logistical brilliant to have such a vast and sophisticated empire back then is unparalleled |

Maybe it's a white man thing - that desire to control an empire and en*lave people passed on from generation to generation. The colosseum is now reality TV like Big Brother. |

Given that it forms the basis for large parts of our civilisation, surely it deserves some thought, without - as some have inaccurately stated on here - it being some form of wish fulfilment?

Definitely not a white man thing, the Africans were well ahead of the Romans when it came to enslaving people - I don't think anyone chose Pyramid Building as their preferred career
And I would imagine Romans would have identified as Latino rather than white! |

It was the Khans too that had the biggest connected empire through history and they played a huge role in the issues the Middle East still have to this day. Their population has only recently recovered from the wrath of the Khans |

The people who built the pyramids were well fed, well paid and unionised. There is evidence that they withheld their labour for wage increases and were successful in their negotiations. Who’s have thought that! Obviously not the Tories who were in power back then, they wouldn’t have been completed. |

The pyramid builders were doing an early form of national service.Towns and villages had to hand over a quota of young men each year to the projects. They were not unionised, they formed themselves into work "gangs" that competed against each other for the amount of work done in a day/week.There was a bonus system for reaching or beating target. |

Not that long ago, British archaeologist Richard Redding proved conclusively that these wonders of the world were built by free hired workers who even had their own unions. |

I always think about that era in history.. not just them the Egyptians the Persian empire the Spartans .. the Roman Empire fell when it got greedy and allowed corruption into the empire.. instead of fighting outside the empire they created the colosseum and watched men fight each other for fun drinking wine and things I can't say on here.. lost all honour and pride .. |

You’re better than that Meli. Sl#very is recorded as early as 6000-2000BC. ‘White men’ were still living under a rock. North Africa is where it all kicked off, the strong preying on the weak, Africans ensl%ving Africans before even the Romans got on board with the concept. Let’s not forget the Barbary Pirates who ensl-ved over a million Europeans. Just because the Johnny come lately European empires got better at it, they catch all the shit for it.
Look at where it still happens today. |

I don’t think Meli’s post was that serious but Europeans ensl*ving Africans is the first example of race based sl*very and sl*very justified by racist myths. It’s completely different. So I wouldn’t say it’s that they got better at it and catch all the shit for it |

Pretty sure the Arabic spade trade was in full swing before a European set foot on the continent too
The misconception that Africa and the Middle East were beacons of peace and equality before the big bad Europeans got there is an interesting one |

When ever I'm riding and getting my fillings shakened out on a sh*t piece of road.
The Romans built roads with out engineering degrees and they have lasted longer than the kack, bomb cratered washboard ones we have now.
Anyway rant over, hope everyone has a grand day |

The Roman Empire fell the Persian empire fell the Egyptian empire fell and that was one of the longest ruling empires.. all of them was not the way we was created to be.. for years the Americans have ruled and dominated terrorised and now your going to see that fall and end because they are pushing us in the wrong way.. western society is a failed society..the plans in place will remove our freedom by 2030 depending on who gets 2024 American presidency |

I have a little bust of Julius Caesar that I look at when I'm feeling sad.
I ask myself, what would Caesar do?
And it all becomes clear...
The distant sound of marching ever growing in my mind, the horns of battle ringing in my ears...
Soon the time will come... and Miss Jolius Caesar will rise.
But first I'm going to try on this cute little dress I just bought and see if it goes with my heels |

Surely romans/Italian's would identify as white European as I believe Latino refers to central/South American people of Spanish/Portuguese heritage.
Please correct me if my thinking is incorrect |

The "Latinos" of the era of the Roman Empire were the native people of Central and South America. Most people who identify as Latinos/as are of mixed European and Indigenous heritage but no Europeans had colonised the Americas during the period of the Roman Empire. |
