The greatest martial artist that ever lived died 50 years ago today.
He had vision ahead of his time, his philosophies were inspiring.
My favourite moment of his on film was him teaching the young lad in Enter the Dragon. Also his 1971 interview. |

First off RIP dude was a movie legend and brought kung fu to the masses in America
The greatest martial artist that ever lived thats a hard quote to sell as his style hasn’t been proven and is mostly flashy for movies
When in the company off people like
Carlson Gracie
Rickson Gracie
Or the more famous royce gracie
Or like mid boom gsp Anderson silva
Up to the modem grates
Like khabib nurmagomedov or islam makhachev
alexander volkanovski
It’s real hard to say that he was the greatest to ever life when in the company names like this who have proven time and time again just how good they are

That he was the greatest is the OP's opinion, Sport..any Sport ..is all about opinion and maybe ..just maybe ..the people you have mentioned would never have got into that sport if it wasn't for Bruce Lee, when a person is into that sport they know who's who etc etc and they have heard and know about them ..l can't lie lm not into the sport as much as you are , there's name's that you have mentioned
and l have never heard simply because lm not into it and but l have heard of Bruce Lee , he was a trailblazer in his field, from the very beginning he had his vision and never wavered from that , he overcame a lot of obstacles to achieve his vision..." Be like water " ...like l said in Sport..in anything really,it's all about opinion. |

Surely the whole point of Bruce Lee's ethos was that he didn't have a style. |

Bill ‘superfood’ Wallace
Not even Brice Lee would have seen that front roundhouse coming.
I like that his success came out of a major injury. A judo champion injured his leg and so had to re-learn to do the power kicks all of his front leg in orthodox stance. Very unconventional & unbeaten in the ring. |

It’s still never been proven though
We had champions who
Have a boxing background
Kick boxing
muay thai
Wrestling
Bjj
karate
Judo
And stuff
But none off these shalin moke or akido or anything else has shown up in the sport
If it was going to be ofective it would have shown up by now in the sport

Super "FOOD"
Ultimately, it's worth remembering that Bruce Lee was an actor, and his biggest influence on the Martial Arts world was born out of his movie success not competition. There is absolutely no doubt that he had more impact on the world of martial arts than any other person in history, and that his abilities were nothing short of extraordinary...
Most certainly "The Greatest of All Time" in some ways, even if that wasn't as a combatant.

Don't forget Bruce knew the art of fighting without fighting which I don't think any other fighter had.
Also the likes of Jim Kelly and Mike Tyson rated as the best.
He certainly had the charisma, emotion and philosophy which not many can claim.
There's more to martial arts than meets the fist. |

Not sure any of those names are as famous as bruce lee though...nor has series of films starring them nor iconic film posters.. Accepting for the connoisseur of the martial arts world there may be technicians who are better. |

Correct. Because he studied fencing, western boxing plus traditional arts like judo, karate, wrestling etc … absorb what is useful and discard the rest. He was, like William Barton-Write many years earlier a pioneer of cross training. |

You can go to corners of the world where they don't have a tv but they know about Bruce Lee.
People like Muhammad Ali, Pele and Bruce Lee transcend their sports.
They are trailblazers, icons on whose shoulders today's greats stand. The amount of people they brought entertainment, joy and happiness too and how many they inspired to follow in their footsteps ids unfathomable. |
