"Are you like me wanting it to stay?" Needs to stay darling

"Nope. It can go. Can count on one hand how many times I've needed cash in the last year. Imagine it will stay but acceptance will become more limited as for businesses handling cash is expensive." So are card transaction fees.
| |||
| |||
"Keep using cash if you want it to remain in circulation. Keep using actual banks if you want branches to remain open. Keep using high street shops if you want them to remain in place. However if only a minority need or use something it will eventually fade out. Otherwise we'd regularly see penny farthings on the road " Exactly this
"Are you like me wanting it to stay?" Yes cash is king and always will be in my eyes
| |||
"Keep cash. I budget to the last penny, I can only spend what is in my hand " There's a move towards budgeting by keeping cash in separate wallets isn't there? I haven't seen much but I understand that quite a few YouTube and TikTok videos advocate this. The irony is that is his we used to do it in the 'olden days' and I still do it now only in various different bank accounts.

"Are you like me wanting it to stay?" yes and hopefully it will its all dependent on how people pay for things most use card or phone now and banks are closing down, the banks are trying to force it out

"Go. Its fun to see people get worked up over it. There is something soothing about watching the world burn " Yeah, there's nothing that convinces me more than "lukewarm conspiracy theory China control we will not comply WAKE UP!" I also go to the ranting incontinent homeless guy on the corner for financial advice.

There's an interesting Venn diagram between people who used to say "if you've done nothing wrong, why would you need to hide?" and people who screech about digital currency being used as a mechanism of control. Ever notice there is a connection between those that bitch and whine and moan about being woke, then go on a rant about waking up. Then use that vomit inducing little nugget of "I'm awake, not woke"
"Are you like me wanting it to stay?" Nope. I have bigger problems than a conspiracy theory debate about cash vs. electronic fund transfers. I also think "who am I to stand in the way of 'progress' if this is what the young 'uns and government want?" I'm more focused on what I can control and being happy than having a meltdown over some dystopian future that I probably won't live to see.

I'm sorry this made me laugh....as much as being a black woman from an immigrant family means my very existence is political....I also studied politics, history and psychology. I would advise anyone to think for themselves and not just swallow any new flavoured kool-aid that comes along. Sidenote I don't watch the world burn...I already know it's been razed to the ground and sown with ash and salt. Lol! I just water my little patch, avoid the news and happily keep it moving.

Stop trying to hold onto them so desperately. T" Yeah. The past goes in cycles but unfortunately not in your lifetime...takes a few centuries/millenia. I understand people's sentimentality and fear but you can't live your life based solely on emotions....you also can't base you life solely on rational decisions while ignoring your emotions. From psychology that I learn, you need to choose a rational path that you can handle emotionally. That is the dialectical of wisdom. Or you could become a prepper. I didn't even know this but I was a prepper for the pandemic. Lol! I always buy toilet paper in a 24 pack. Lol! I also know how to use a bidet/washcloth/leaves and soap and water to clean my butt. Increase survival skills: there are people out there who know how to survive without cash and cards. Lol! It's called barter, forage and grow/catch your own. Lol! see The Hermit of Treig. Marvellous bloke makes his own alcohol for his funeral!! I swear he'd got 100 gallons of booze stored up.

I'm virtuous..but I'm also crazy and usually doing the ( non-intentional neurodivergent) offending. Lol! I got vaccinated not because of emotions ( OMG I'm going to die without it) or rationale ( it's what the government/law has prescribed for everybody). It was a calculated personal move based on wisdom because "I travel a lot which is already stressful, family lives overseas and do I want to complicate the process even more just to be able to see them in less than 5 years?" More probability of the plane crashing while en route than me personally dying/or becoming more disabled from a vaccine. My friend with benefits doesn't travel so he says no point in taking the vaccine and given his allergic reactions to everyday things..I kinda agree that he chose best for himself and his family. I do find these campaigns/agenda/movements, etc interesting from a purely philosophical and sociological special interest hobby standpoint. Lol!

Individually I'm not that bothered. It's conspiracy theorists gathering in groups that concern me. Believing crazy shit and having the physical force to do something about it. Thing is at the same time, that's a them issue really. Pride like that is dangerous and making things difficult for themselves. I've told them, asking for help is not a weakness. Granted some people will be absolute wank bags, and refuse to help. But most would be willing to help if asked for.

I think the problem is, these changes will happen no matter what. We need to adapt for those who'll struggle, including being willing to help (and the push-pull of dignity/independence versus quality of life/safety is basically insoluble) But instead the main thrust of these conversations goes to ridiculous conspiracy theories.

Someone eventually spots him and quickly scans his groceries then walks away. He stands there a bit longer until someone realises he has no idea how to pay let alone see how much it is. He says that asking for help to do basic things like buy food is a huge blow to his pride and independence. I had thought about suggesting that the supermarket trained their staff in helping the elderly Yes, I think training of staff and having enough staff to help people is vital. I think the problem is, these changes will happen no matter what. We need to adapt for those who'll struggle, including being willing to help (and the push-pull of dignity/independence versus quality of life/safety is basically insoluble) But instead the main thrust of these conversations goes to ridiculous conspiracy theories." Sure the conspiracy theories is not the issue and neither is the reduction of criminal activities that was mentioned before. However, the day to day practicalities are as it's the impact it would have on some individuals and organisations including those that depend on cash donations. The dual system is fine and no need for change I think and I will definately continue to use cash wherever I can despite the odd look you get, especially from a young cashier who may have not handled a note before. I also enjoy stuffing the piggy bank with some coins and love to hear the noise they make when drop in and get very excited when ots full and have to count ot all
"I don't think cash will ever disappear completely, people will always use it. All the old people who can't access the net or use debit cards will eventually to be blunt, die. I don't care either way, but I think matter what happens, we need to have realistic conversations about adapting to change.
"Cash? What, I do work and you just give me worthless pieces of paper? Fuck that. My standard rate is two chickens and a loaf per day, two chickens and a half at weekends. Not fluffy ones tho " Just one Fluffy Chicken will be plenty for me thank you
"Cash as a physical medium is a bit like having a DVD, times have moved on I still use my DVD’s and CD’s and at least twice a week I need to use cash. " Let me enjoy my old-school entertainment CDs and DVDS ( people still have vinyl records, cassette tapes and 8 tracks. Lol!) in the comfort of my home. Lol! No one has to known. Not once did I ask my Boomer dad to throw out his records and his old record player. Lol! So I'm keeping my CDs and DVDs. Lol!
"Get rid of cash you get rid of so much crime." The amount of crime that is physical cash based is tiny. Crypto is king not cash. The only significant cash crime now is your local junkie.

Yep. If, instead of just scanning dad's stuff for him they showed him how to do it, where to put his cash or how to swipe his card or use contactless in a friendly way he'd be able to do it with minimal help. As it is he either goes to a checkout or waits until someone appears. Don't get me started on the librarian who pointed and said "over there" when he asked her where the talking books were. He was carrying his white stick and had a badge saying 'I'm partially sighted ' on his lapel. But I digress...cash, to keep or not to keep.

I find it very arrogant and divisive that people who have no problem using modern technology are happy to alienate those who can’t and label them conspiracy wackos. Imagine if we treated disabled people this way. Oh wait….

"You'd have to be delusional to want cash gone.. it will be one of our last elements of freedom taken away from us .. it's all control.. with cash you can go where you want as you please and spend .. with digital your money can be frozen and restricted from using and then your stuck.. taxed and charged when the government please.. if everyone was to go and draw all their money out of the bank now they physically wouldn't be able to pay that out because they don't have the funds to do so .. corrupt system implemented to create debt and control " Way ta go ..well said ..it's the truth..the whole truth and nothing but the truth
"Get rid of cash you get rid of so much crime. There's an interesting Venn diagram between people who used to say "if you've done nothing wrong, why would you need to hide?" and people who screech about digital currency being used as a mechanism of control. If you've done nothing wrong, why would you need to hide? Slightly off topic, that used to be my mantra until somebody replied “It depends on who decides what is right or wrong”. Hmm" that person surely can make his mind up himself without the aide of someone to make it for him, cash is freedom and so little freedom left, everything we do is spied on

"CASH NEEDS TO STAY, they are trying to bring digital currency so they can track everything you do, its already in china if you speed or dont pay fines or bills they can take it out of your account, (And dont say i never have anything in my account they won't be able) yes they will france are having riots over this but not on the news. WAKE UP " They are trying to launch a digital currency to profit out of the people who want to use a digital currency. The spec for a digital pound actually specify that it will directly match the value of Cash. A digital currency is no more "trackable" than card payment are currently. Cash is very important for a thousand reasons, but none of them are to do with conspiracies.
"Definitely keep cash it helps out business a lot especially in the current climate, there's zero charges for paying cash unlike card transaction fees. I'd hate to see a cashless society. Mrs " Believe it or not, Banks actually charge businesses for paying CASH into their accounts, but not for digital payment. The fee is generally around 1% of the deposited amount. It is the card machine suppliers who charge businesses for card transactions. Cal
