I suppose that’s like asking if you’re racist: of course you’re not.
I’m an inverted snob. I fit into middle class because of my profession but I was born working class - that’s class, not clarse - and I have retained my working class values.
I have worked for middle class people because that’s what I do but I have always refused to have anything to do with the aristocracy.
And I have tried to keep my Midlands accent.
How about you? |

Definitely not. Unsure of the correct definition of a snob Is though I always thought it was someone who looked down of others either with or without wealth?
My son/step sons girlfriend is an absolute horrible snob who views almost everyone else as shit beneath her shoe yet if you take away everything that’s either on tick or bought for her she hasn’t got a lot to piss in so god knows why she thinks she so much better than every cunt else |

I get the impression that’s the modern attitude. Kids have a sense of entitlement.

I’m not a snob but I have a thing that pisses people off. If I have one bad experience at a restaurant, I never go back. Even if I’ve been there plenty times before and rated the place highly, one poor munch and I hold that grudge |

Not at all in day to day life, but I am definitely a sexual snob. It would instantly put me off someone if I found out that those they had slept with previously were particularly questionable or unattractive |

Absolutely not. My dad had his own business but my parents never had much money when I was growing up. We never lived in a particularly nice area either.
I never forget where I’ve came from and I’d never look down my nose at someone worse off than me. |

Nanny always told me that I should not look down on the proletariat, but it was hard not to when the butler was tying my shoe laces. That doesn't make me a snob, after all I don't yet have a title. |

"Only when it comes to coffee, I hate bad coffee
Is that snobbery or just know what you like? I hear the phrase 'coffee snob ' a lot and it bemuses me"
It sort of is. But not the same kind of snob that the word was originally intended to be used for.
It is still about feeling above those that use or prefer "lesser" than you do. It extends beyond just coffee of course. |

Hating bad coffee isn't about feeling superior (well it isn't for me) it's about hating bad coffee .

I'm a snob then because I hate bad coffee. I hate bad anything if I'm eating or drinking it. |

Americano, hot milk on the side. Heat the cup and make sure the coffee is hot.
Thanks |

But coffee snob is. Which is why it's used as such. You said it bemuses you, but that's exactly what it's used for. Plenty of people in coffee shops that act just like that then hide behind "I just don't like bad coffee" in this country and US, I've witnessed it in full force.
Likely the majority of words and phrases these days, it gets used at every opportunity to become overused.
(that's not a dig at either you) |

Like 'wine snob'?
Hmm I'm wondering how I can express my dislike of coffee that isn't to my taste |

Oh yes it is! What's the point unless you can look down on some pleb drinking their shitty little Nescafé Gold thinking it's the height of their coffee drinking experience? I'm joking... But seriously... |

We are definitely not snobs! Both from some of the roughest council estates in the country.
That being said, we didn’t better our position just to stay on the estate and we do enjoy the nicer things in life where possible I don’t think that makes us snobs though right?!

Some of my in-laws think I'm a snob because I have xyz and they don't but it's more due to different life choices than thinking I'm better.
I work damn hard for anything I have or do. Doesn't mean I'm better than anyone else, just that I like what I like. |

Snobbery to me is thinking you are better than someone else. I don't really go for that.
There's always a narrative of making sacrifices for some greater good. When it gets to the point enough people feel like ragged trousered philanthropists all of a sudden the word class gets popular again.
Same as the word solidarity. That lasts as long as it's in people's self-interest. |

There seems to be so much confusion as to what makes a snob. How can anyone think that being a snob includes liking a particular type of coffee or anything else for that matter is hilarious. At a stretch, if one thinks such a taste is superior to others then could be taken a snobbery but not just because you like something different. A snob is someone who thinks are above the rest, values wealth and position above other qualities in people and regards those without wealth and status as inferior. On a personal level I do appreciate certain things, including good coffee and lots more, but I will not consider myself to be a snob. There are however bevaviours I see around me that I detest and because of that I would not associate with certain people. To be honest those would normally be some of the nouveau riche ostentatious and distateful ones full of self entitlement and disregard of others around them. Sadly quite a lot of those around. Humility seems to be a short comoditity these days so perhaps I am a little snob looking down or perhaps pitying those lacking it. |

We got accused of being snobs for not wanting to meet for sex in a certain hotel. Just not a very sexy location for a meet so can make it cheap and seedy.
If that makes us snobs then guess we must be but we see it as preference. |

I don't really know what would make me a snob, tbh.
I look at people swearing when they are talking to their kids or spitting in the street with absolute disdain, but I don't see it as me being a snob. I just don't like grubbyness. I certainly don't look down on anyone for what they do for a living. A job is a job, do your best |

No idea.
Was once called a snob by a friend of a friend on a night out because of the way I spoke and carried myself.
But then I've worked in very privileged, "snobby" areas and saw how people have looked when I told them where I originally come from.

That certainly does not imply a snob. That kind and similar behaviour is attrocious. I stopped at a supermarket the other day on way back home in an area unfamiliar to me. I could not wait to get out of there because of the behaviour of peoplem. 'A free for all zoo'. It's sadly rather common wherever you go from cafes and restaurants to shops, airports, holidays and do on. You almost end up feeling the odd one out when observing that kind of bevaviour but it's certainly not snobbery. Incidently, money and class does not really come into it imo. |

I was called a snob from the age of 11 due to the school I went to. It started literally over night. It wasn't just other kids either, their parents encouraged it. God knows why, I was the same 11 year old on the day I started there as I was the day before. It continued until I left at 18. It wasn't just me, all of us experienced it. |

I’d like to be a coffee snob but there seems to be too many steps to making your own coffee. It’s all a bit overwhelming.
My career is very middle class. I have now found myself saying “gosh”, “simply isn’t”, “swish”, and other phrases which then get snobbish glances from my old friends and family. |

This for sure.
If someone really loves instant then good for them. Personally I don't drink it. If I'm offered instant coffee, I'll choose tea.
Am I a snob, I don't think so.
Was I brought up with a nice, comfortable middle class upbringing.... Yeah for sure...
Do I look down on people who have less than myself (be that physically, situationally etc) hell no.
You never know what has brought someone to where they are currently... Or what they have overcome to get where they are today. |

I don't think so. Maybe about something silly, like tea or whatever. But definitely not a traditional snob in the sense I think I'm better than everyone else. I do have standards, and I'd be lying if I said I didn't judge some people for things they do or say, but I don't treat people like shit and belittle them for it if that makes sense. |

It’s natural.
What would make you a snob is despising people who haven’t made the transition for whatever reasons. |

"I think it's usually levelled at folks who have tried to make their life a bit better by those who wish theirs could be"
That’s where my prejudice comes in.
I resent people who have done nothing for what they have but look down on people who have to work for what they have. |
