Time and hindsight decided that Oasis were more quintessentially Brit 90's, while Blur were an actual band with original songs.
Noel Gallagher is currently drafting his response to this, calling me a prick or whatever
Also the answer is, was and always will be Pulp |

She says, "There's ants in the carpet"
The dirty little monsters, eating all the morsels
Just pickin' up the rubbish
Give her effervescence, she needs a little sparkle
Good morning TV, you're looking so healthy. |

"So….did we ever decide who was ultimately better…..Oasis vs Blur?
"
Thats like asking which is better a shit sandwich or a glass of piss.
Both are equally bad choices, and I’d rather go without thanks. |

"Who remembers Carter USM ?
The wedding present? "
Well, quite. While Blur and Oasis were battling it out I wasn’t even vaguely interested because I was busy going to see Carter, PWEI, Ned’s, Senser, Therapy, Levellers, and 101 other great alternative bands.
But with the benefit of hindsight Blur were ace. Oasis weren’t. |

Pretty much this
Britpop was the diet, chemically sweetened, over commercialised version of Indie, all wrapped up in shiny packaging for the kids- which is why they needed a hero and villain battle to promote it.
That said, the work of Damon Albarn and Greame Coxon outside of Blur kind of tell you which of the two acts had proper, talented musicians and not just a couple of chancers who pretty much started a Beatles tribute act and didn’t really change much for the following 3 decades |
