pineapples contains an enzyme called bromelain. This enzyme helps break up and digest protein.
....when you eat pineapple, the bromelain tries to have a go at the protein in your mouth & tongue.
This is why you feel a slight tingling sensation.

Oh! I'd always wondered why I got a fuzzy mouth after trying to devour as much as possible. |

Causing ulcers or curing ulcers? There was an urban rumour at one time that if stranded on an island with nothing to eat but pineapple, enzymes in the fruit would eventually dissolve your lips and tongue... |

Lots to consider if one uses pineapples for 'food play'. |

There was a whole book about them some years back - Pineapple, King of Fruits, I think - about their history. The most sought after & valuable fruit at one stage, and intensely almost unimaginably rare & exotic.
And a symbol of generous welcome, which is why you see those carved stone pineapples crowning the gates of stately homes.
Also, on pizza is not merely acceptable but desirable. With ham, the combination of sweet and salty is delicious - what's not to love? |

I bought some ready chopped pineapple as part of a meal deal a couple of days ago and it had fermented in the plastic pot.
It fizzed in my mouth as I ate it.
It's one of the fruits I like that I can still eat.
I'd lick pineapple juice off a cock. |

Love it. Put some sugar and mint leaves in pestle and mortar and smash together. Result? Beautiful, green crystals you sprinkle over finely sliced pineapple.
