A great entertainer, and I loved some of their songs, but

I don't know that many groups off the top of my head to decide if he was the greatest.

He certainly did some great choreography.

My parents told me a story that they actually met him once and that he was a really nice chap but also that he was as hyper animated offstage as on it

Freddie Garrity. For some reason, when I was much, much younger I used to get him confused with Freddie “Parrot Face” Davies.

Probably because they were both regulars on Junior Showtime etc.

Somewhere In The Ether…

What with all the zany jumping in the air antics, I wonder if he was an influence for Dave Lee Roth’s later, similarly crazy stage antics?

Freddie and the Dreamers were the first ever 'live concert' I went to.

My Mum took us as a birthday treat for my brother's 6th birthday. What a great memory it is.

I wouldn't say he was the greatest, but he certainly was fun.

That sounds like a wonderful memory to hold

I’ve mentioned Freddie of course but kudos also to his band mates to; although they didn’t try to mimic some of his more elaborate stage antics, they nonetheless kept up with the dance choreography whilst simultaneously playing their instruments AND providing backing harmonies
