Literally invented the Church of England as the Catholic Church would not permit Divorce. Divorce was a thing already.

He is from a line of nutters that born with the fear part missing. His grandson had some of the best journalism and books on the Yugoslavian civil war all while having a bad smack addiction.

Churchills grandad died in the boer war, found surrounded by bodies of enemies.

There are so many great men, but for some reason I always remembered this guys name and his story.

William Brydon - the "sole survivor" of the 1842 retreat from Kabul.

An army of 4500 plus 12000 civilians were slowly picked off and cut down across the 90 mile trek through snowy mountain passes in January, on their way to the nearest garrison in Jalalabad.

It's not entirely accurate though, despite being known as the sole survivor, around 100 soldiers were taken captive and later released, and another man reached Jalalabad days after Brydon but died very soon after.

Though apocryphal, it is still an interesting story.

Alex Zanadi

(short version)

Fought his way in to Formula 1

Pretty much died when he was T-boned at about 130mph in a Cart race, obliterating both his legs below the knee- to the point he lost about 60% of his blood before getting to hospital- doctors have no clue how he managed to survive the crash, injuries, multiple resuscitations and surgery.

Somehow, he did survived all this, the extreme rehab and eventually he got back to car racing- including driving his remaining laps of the race that nearly killed him.

After racing, he decided to take up competitive hand bike racing- winning gold medals at the London Paralmypics.

Last year, he was involved in yet another serious racing injury during a hand bike competition, crashing in to a truck, resulting in injuries so severe he was in an induced coma for weeks and is once again battling back slowly, reportedly now being able to speak again.

He's endured and overcome more challenges than most people could imagine- can't think of anyone more badass?
