According to something I saw on the Beeb, I think it was last week..... Jaffa Cakes are apparently the biscuit (!!!!) that will stay intact the longest after the most dunkings in tea.

I have a confession to make.
It was I who started the cake craze, many moons ago.
I was fed up reading *pulls up a chair, grabs popcorn* type comments on contentious threads that I said something to the popcorn eaters, and then said something along the lines of "I don't like popcorn anyway, I'm having cake"
Then used cake instead of popcorn on controversial threads.
Sorry |

"It's a recent thing on here over the last five years or so. It was never mentioned before then. It does annoy me when someone doesn't like the thread they derail it to be about cake"
It's not recent. |

I've been here nearly as long as you, and the cake stuff has emerged over the last few years as you say, before then it was always popcorn. |

Which is why I said something, because some threads had multiple people munching on popcorn, squeezing up together to munch on popcorn and having conversations between themselves while the threads exploded.
Tea and cake became more used, more recently, but Voddy gave some out to people having a bad day years back.

No, but it was earlier than 5 years ago. There a man who commented with just "cake" on some threads. |

"It was about whether it's a cake or biscuit, I believe biscuits are Vat qualifying but cake isn't so the manufacturer insists Jaffa's are cake."
They are. Cakes go hard when stale. Biscuits go soft. |

The difference is what happens to them when they go stale.
Bisuits go soft, cakes go hard.
That is why they ate a Jaffa Cake and not a Jaffa biscuit - because they go hard when stale |
