Not a new one but, Kill The Irishman.
Based on the true story of Danny Green who, after rising up the ranks, had multiple attempts upon his life by the Mafia in 1970’s Cleveland.

The Creator is very good.
Ferrari not bad but not as good as Le Mans 66.
Ambulance is stressfully good.
Excellent films that come to mind are The Boondock Saints, Say Anything, Oppenheimer, Blade Runner 2049, O Brother, Where Art Thou?, amongst others but I don't have time to get into it now  |

Brother , a Yakuza has to leave Japan and joins his nephew in la who is in a gang , the Yakuza guy turns the gang into basically top Yakuza and starts a war with the mafia . Amazing film very deep not just about gangs . Beat takeshi is the main protagonist |

A modern day samurai takes on the entire mafia, single handedly.
Stars forest whittaker as the samurai. He actually is part of the mafia as their paid assasin, but they try and kill him/get rid of him at the start of the film.

Judge Dredd 2012.
Karl Urban and Leana Heady play their roles just as the creators and fans of the 2000AD comic strip would have wanted it.
If this had been a US made movie it would have had alot more attention. |

Not sure what you class as obscure, but
Maudie.
Fair to say, its not an upbeat, jolly sort of film- but like the best stories, its based on the real lives of the turbulent romance between a fishmonger and an undiscovered artist...both of who are rather awkward in life.
The acting is exquisite, the script fantastic, the story a little dark and depressing.
It will certainly make you think and leave a lasting impression if you love the world of arthouse type cinema- its a film you know you've watched, an experience more than a movie.
Think its currently available on Netflix, Paramount or Apple TV (sorry, can't remember which one it popped up on) |

Galaxy Quest such a great film they made a documentary about it, ‘Never Surrender a Galaxy Quest Documentary’. If your cast has Sigourney Weaver, Sam Rockwell and the late great Alan Rickman you know it’s worth watching.

The Revenant starring Leo diCaprio, Tom Hardy!! Well worth the watch!!
Alpha, no not Alpha dog! Alpha is a great film, it's about a young hunter who is left behind by his tribe who meets a wolf who was also left behind by his tribe!! They both bond, they are there for each other through the worst of times!! I'd highly recommend you watch this film!!
