Somewhere In The Ether…

Good folks; The hall of shame beckons….

This is the place to confess your cooking related disasters unto everyone here whereby we will absolve you of your sins (whilst doubtless, sniggering under our breaths).

Reveal all your greatest culinary cock ups right here

Oh I have a couple!

The first time cooking a proper meal for the fiancé. I thought, oh I can do beef bourguignon. So, dressed up, got everything in the oven. Got dickstracted. Lost track of time well and truly. Came to eat after 9pm (I'd thought we'd be eating around 7). It was charcoal. Blackened meat, no sauce. So awful. Ended up getting a kebab. And more dickstractions so didn't put him off.

The time when I decided to bake brownies for a lover. Thought oh, I'll get his favourite chocolate bar, whip up some brownies. Maybe he'll whip me later.

Got the brownies out early as bad traffic so needed to set off asap. Packed them in a box. Got there. He took a bite. They were barely cooked. My mouth helped him forget the bad taste in his luckily.

Results in a black tarry mess, a ruined frying pan and disappointment all round.

I’m a bad cook; I’ll be the first to admit it.

It took me a few attempts but I now realise that there really is a big difference between using baking and self raising flour in some recipes….

MOROCCO Wherever I lay my hat

I once grilled rather than baked a cake. Even on a good day my cakes normally come out the oven less deep than when they went in

hiding from cock pics.

For shrove Tuesday at my daughter's school they were making duck with pancakes, to try and be a little bit different, but they used traditional pancake mix.

Fail!

I wentto cook something very similar but using the rack instead of a baking tray and they just melted straight through the rack.

Yorkshire

Many years ago, forgot the pan on, place covered in soot and needed professional cleaning but of course could have been worse. However, I must add I am not a bad cook and usually things turn up well.

Left my ka in charge whilst I went to a meeting she didn't turn off the boiling potatoes, burnt the pan and potatos. Hence to say I had to take the blame.

Cloud 8

Once made a cheesecake with a ginger biscuit base for my hot new girlfriend.

Felt like the biscuits weren’t bonding with the stipulated amount of butter, so I kept adding. And adding. And adding, until the whole pack had gone in.

I just thought, at least it will be moist and buttery.

Put it in the fridge overnight during which time the butter set hard as concrete.

We had to scrape the topping off and just eat that!!
