It's going to be a sequel with John Cleese reprising the role. Basil in the modern world running a boutique hotel with his long lost daughter
Could be good, likely to be shite |

I didn't like Python when first broadcast so not liking it now is not really new |

"Well it maybe perfect for Cleese.
Every interview I have seen him in over the past few years he just comes across as angry and bitter,so not much acting required!"
Exactly. He has complained ON TV how nobody will put him on TV any more.
Now he has this series. He'll probably still think he's not allowed on TV. |

"Also if they try to do an American version it will be terrible and it will be a diluted down Faulty Towers light for today's sensitive audiences."
According to IMDb country of origin for the reboot is
United States |

Somewhere off the edge of the map... 'ere there be monsters |
If it tries to be "trendy" and politically correct to the current climate, it'll probably be about as funny as watching a panorama-style documentary about the fatburgs in London's sewer system. |

"I was v surprised to read it's in the works. Does any1 even want a Fawlty Towers reboot?"
Someone does.
As a one off? Maybe it could be worth it, but we don’t need it do we? |

Not all that North of North London |
It's going to obviously try and be outrageous and not at all PC and Woke as Cleese spends all his time ranting about PC and Woke.
It won't be funny, it will be offensive. It will have the unique accolade of making Mrs Brown's Boys look critically acclaimed by comparison.
It will be bomb amd Cleese will claim he's been cancelled. Missing the point that angry men ranting are only ever funny when it is obviously satire |

It will be interesting to see how they target it and whether Cleese can still write humour that’s relevant. Last thing I’d want to see is just dredging up an old comedy to satisfy a sense of nostalgia.
I think it’s a harder task that writing a new comedy from scratch and maybe even harder still to give it a fair chance as a viewer without preconceptions |

"I was v surprised to read it's in the works. Does any1 even want a Fawlty Towers reboot?
Whos in it?
Cleese + his daughter, apparently."
100% not . They will regurgitate anything these days.
Not a FT fan but if this is in any way successful what is next ? An ‘Only fools and and horses’ reboot ? That would be tantamount to sacrilege. |

Didn't they do only fools and horses origins/the early years.
Which was crap.

No but then I'm not much of a fan of many (only a very small select few) British sitcom type shows. So I'm not the target audience anyway. I have no issues with them attempting it for the enjoyment of others though.
I expect it won't be even close to what people want from their nostalgia so it is going to be a let down to them and offensive to others |

I won’t watch this - like the Office, it had a short but perfect run that was amazing and was all the better for the few (was it only 12?) episodes it did have.
It broke my heart when OFAH came back again and again - they should have left it with them becoming millionaires. |

And then there was the ‘Green Green Grass’ spin off |

Will take some very creative writing to make it work.
Itll have to navigate the current climate AND be funny at the same time, and those 2 things are mutually exclusive |

Its a crass idea on many levels.
The original is 12 examples of perfect, sublime farce and will never be improved. I can only deduce its a money orienrated move to cash in; thats a shame.
Some reboots work but tends to be sci fi where thats a success, not comedy. |

Now I'm confused! Do these people exist? Are they real? |

I'm real and I didn't like it when it was first aired and I don't like it now. I was a sixth former when it was originally broadcast and it had quite a following among my contemporaries, especially the really cool kids. |

The original series was as close to perfection as you could get. But comedy has moved on now.
I absolutely love ‘The Thick of It’ and the majority of comedy written by Armando Iannucci, which I don’t think is ‘woke’ or any other criticism of modern comedy that people claim cannot be shown or today.
Also he’s far from being left wing or woke himself. As he’s writing it with his daughter it comes across as a Father trying to jump start his daughter’s career. Laudable in a way but who knows he could surprise us |
