Many of my fondest memories of growing up in the 80s and early 90s revolved around sweets and chocolate and sometimes crisps.
Anyone share this nostalgic childhood journey? |

"Opal fruits not stardust
Marathon not snickers
Then there was the sherbet dip"
I believe the main difference between our Starburst and the American Starburst is that ours are made with real fruit juice as opposed to artificial flavouring. |

"Secret bars
Loved these
Nibble the end off and suck
oooh, never did that
now I never will
I was too innocent to remember if it could of slid over a hard cock and nibbled off"
If I ever met you back in the day, I would have loved to have tried. |

The fact it was 1998 they stopped, I would of been 16 at the oldest.
So you sir would be a dirty old man ![](/icons/s/razz.gif) |

However, I don't mind the dirty old man label ![](/icons/s/biggrin.gif) |

"Can't remember what they were called but remember them crisps that were like a bag of squashed little scraps of crisps. Salt and vinegar I think. "
Were they packs of ordinary crisps that were sat on by mistake and fobbed off to you as ‘special’ little scraps of crisps?

Fuse bars!
They one of the wife's favourites, but they went out of production due to the nature of the materials used.
It threw in a little bit of everything from most chocolate bars (peanuts, rasins, fudge, chunks of cereal, etc) and that pushed up the price to the point where it was pretty much Cadbury's loss-leader.
Don't be fooled by the one which hit the shelves in India about 6 years ago - we imported some, and they are crap by comparison. It's a much cheaper bar, with some of the pricier ingredients either scaled-back or missing altogether. |

"Opal fruits. " oh yes loved those. And the fruit salads and black jacks, hubba bubba bubble gum, jaw breakers, Toffos, raspberry ruffles, walnut whips. I’m often reminded of walnut whips coming on this site.. ![](/icons/s/mrgreen.gif) |

Vending machine caramac after mum had taken me and my brother swimming.
A Mars bar from dad in between games of an all day rugby festival.
And a feast ice cream bar on summer drives with the old man too.
And walnut whips just randomly...whatever happened to them. |

"I worked for sweets and chocolate wholesalers for 10 years (late 70's - late 80's) and remember some very weird crazes, such as Germolene bubble gum
"
I actually loved that. Most of the sweets here were great but I thought I had imagined that flavoured gum so I’m so glad you said this. I want some now. ![](/icons/s/biggrin.gif) |

A lot of these things will still be available to buy today, however, you will never be eating exatly the same thing because the ingredients will have changed over the years, especially the salt and sugar content.
