Secret hideaway in the pennines |
I was browsing through Spotify and came across Jimmy Barnes freight train heart, an album I had back in the day.
Apart from the single Good Times which he recorded with Inxs, he didn't really have much impact in the UK, which is a shame because it's a brilliant album.
So let's share those underrated artists and albums from back in the day, who knows, maybe it will introduce some new music to everyone |

The two UFO albums No Place to Run (1980) and The Wild, the Willing and the Innocent (1981) are good. Michael Schenker is not on guitar having left the band but the late Paul Chapman more than makes up for it. |

I picked up a Jonny clegg cassette in the bargain bucket in the 80s...it was a great album and different to all the UK charts stuff. Never seen or heard of him since. |

"Blue oyster Cults Secret TreatiesI saw them at monsters of rock at Donington
Lucky! I’m wrong anyway Secret Treaties was 1974 so much more to them than don't fear the reaper"
Completely agree, that’s song actually bothered me for a while when I came across their back catalogue. Thought “How is this the hit song?” There’s so many good ones |

"Peter Gabriel , has the classic hit solsbury hill" Yes to this, but he did set up his own record studio called Real World and Womad music festival.
As for Solsbury Hill, that's 1977. Sledgehammer was his biggest record in 1986.

Were they as bad as reported on the day? Think they followed Slade which did not help!" they had just sacked the drummer, so it was the drum tech who stood in |

Propaganda both albums 1234 & A Secret Wish, classic 80’s German Synth Pop.
Massive fan of Joe Jackson who’s already been mentioned.
But when it comes to the 80’s my taste is very eclectic, from 80’s Soul to the Teardrop Explodes. |

Alicante, Spain. (Sometimes in Wales) |
I’m sitting in a Spanish cafe and Mike Oldfield featuring Maggie Riley is playing. Moonlight shadow from the early eighties.
What ever happened to him?

"Frankie Goes to Hollywood
Welcome to the Pleasuredome... Great album "
Two Tribes is one of the best songs of all time. It hasnt aged at all.
For me, Spear Of Destiny (one for the indie/rock crowd)
Their album 'World Service' is in my top 5
I can still play it start to finish.

Spear of destiny! Great shout... Kirk Brandon was very good front man.
Gang of four probably fall in the same bracket...? |

SOD was the first gig i ever went to, at the Hammersmith Palais in 1985.
I even tried (and failed) to have my hair like Kirk Brandon.
They are still touring now. |
