I would suggest an alternative view on this.
First, personally I prefer rope.
Second,I have tied people on the first meeting and to my knowledge none have died, some where mistreated (but negotiated and consensually) but people knew what was on the menu before we met.
If I go to a swinging club I generally have my rope and floggers with me, and have tied and flogged either publicly or privately I had just met.
However, anyone pulling out handcuffs at a first meet or initiating any BDSM play without it being discussed and consented to, prior to the meeting is suspect in my books. The exception being unless it is raised by the person wanting to be tied. I have had people asking to try things. It is then a risk decision for me whether I should proceed.
I am 100% about safety and education in regard to BDSM and kink but as I have mentioned in other threads I think people misuse the concepts of "trust" and "knowing people". The evidence shows that people with bad intentions are quite capable of taking their time and winning over people to get their defences down. There is no 100 fail proof protection except not doing anything. Anyone who has been in the kink community will know of cases of people originally held up as caring kinksters that are later unmasked as abusers.
Therefore I think it is down to the bottom get as much information about the Top before deciding to play.
There needs to be an acceptance that risk matrixes are personal. |
