Essex gritters have been out this week and have been named by the children of Essex proving what humour the people of Essex have. We have gritting lorries called Alexander the Grit, Gritty Gritty Bang Bang, Gritty McGrit Face, Andy Flurry, Gritney Spears to name but two.

It's all over the Essex News.

Proud to be born in this great land

Ahh, Tom. For once you are behind the times.

Its all over the old news, unfortunately, and not exclusive to Essex.

Most of those names are quite old.

Including Gary Gritter, Gritty Politi, Smash Grits, Grit the Younger and Gritty MaClean

Indeed. I remember reafing the stories years ago - and Gritty McGritface was around the time of that competition to name a new polar exploration vessel - which has since been built and currently doing sciencey stuff
