Yes. I love it when I get the rare opportunity to go for a coffee.
My husband always just asks for a 'normal coffee' though, which makes me giggle. Give him a kettle and a jar of nescafe and he's happy |

I like a coffee in the mornings before I leave for work, but I rarely if ever visit a coffee shop and I live near a few of the big name ones.
I did visit Costa once to see what it was all about and I saw people on their laptops. Whats that all about.
I mean why take a laptop to for a coffee. I see it all the time. |

"I sometimes think why don't us brits have tea shops lol
We do, they're just shit!
They're normally quaint and don't tend to put in half the effort that coffee shops do. "
Ah,I haven't really noticed them. I've been meaning to try macha tea. |

Same here! So easy to arrange, public and safe to meet a stranger from the internet, with no expectations from either side "

Have you ever watched the video of the three young guys in America, who were arrested and cuffed for not buying a coffee in a Starbucks, when they said they were waiting for a fourth person to arrive?
It may have been in Philadelphia; the US TV presenter Noah does a great analysis of it! |

No I haven't seen that for a long time. I like an oxo with a bit of pepper. |

No I haven't seen that. I will google for it.
I did see a video of people getting arrested for buying bottles of water. Not everyone's humour but it made me laugh how quickly it escalated. |

I love coffee shops. Nice hot coffee and a treat, take a small crafting project to work on and some headphones and I'm happy.
Even happier when it's a coffeeshop in Amsterdam. |

At 0700 hours every morning in Starbucks Botanic Avenue Belfast, whilst I was checking the latest forum posts and hot photos on fab, a young group of devout Christians beside me were holding a Bible studies class; quite a contrast in interests! |

I like small independent ones to enjoy nice coffee and cake in a lovely quiet setting . The usual chain ones are too noisy these days but ocassionally go to one if desperate of a coffee there isn't a droive through close by. |

I don’t see the attraction myself , but then again I don’t drink coffee very often, sometimes I walk around with an empty takeout coffee cup in my hand so I don’t look out of place ! |

There is local coffee shop which really puts thought into a coffee bean they serve and I adore their chai latte. M sticks with His double espresso. Independent all the way, though I have a soft spot for Starbucks eggnog latte. |

Recently discovered chai latte after asking for chai tea and they got it wrong.
What a winner |

"Yep we spend a lot of time in coffee shops, mostly independents
Do you find independents taste better ?"
Not always, no. We have d*unk some awful coffee in independents but we've found two that make an excellent brew. I'm general a decent cup from e.g. Costa is better than a rubbish cup from a shop where you sit on a hay sack and the barista wears a leather apron |

I'm not really. I'll buy a coffee on the go but most of them feel too busy and cramped for me to enjoy sitting inside. I do like to sit outside with a double espresso sometimes if the weather's either hot or really cold but dry. |

"I imagine coffee shops are making good money. The last coffee I bought cost me almost 4 quid. The majority of which is water."
You have to factor in the barista's wage, the cost to run the shop, cost of heating the water, the equipment to make the water hot |

Yes but still I can't see it being so much to run as other businesses |

Free wifi and heating i guess for the price if a coffee? And the opportunity of running into the love if your life??
Who wants to meet me in a coffee shop - fall in love and get bummed out by the bins?? Go on… it’s Xmas!!! |

General love going to my local coffee shop (it’s all that’s left on the high street) but have used them often for a social as they are perfect.
Although it does depend on what time of the day the social is. See after 15:30 then they can become full of families which becomes loud and not so intermit. After 18:00 (if it’s still open) then it’s time to find a bar. |

I enjoy both! And make a decent chai at home too using various spices. Milky coffee with cardamom is also nice I think. try. |

Free WiFi and heating yes, but by the time it takes some people to open the laptop and log in I've drank it.. just doesnt seem worth it. After that I just feel awkward loitering around. |

I used to be a coffee shop person: Starbucks, Costa, Clements (Belfast), etc., but since Covid-19 eased, they have just become too expensive, and I now go to McDonalds's and Subway, which is heretical for coffee lovers, but £3.20 for a coffee is ridiculous
Mercifully, I do no drink alcohol, I understand that the prices in pubs, especially in Dublin, are astronomical. |

Can’t do Starbucks or Costa but give me a little small coffee shop with a good selection of coffee beans to pick from and I’m there, Jamaican Blue Mountain is a coffee bean I highly recommend if you like a strong brew |

I love coffee shops and will happily spend hours in there drinking coffee and people-watching.
I also like them for socials - feels safe and public and doesn't seem to instil the same type of expectation that meeting in a pub can. |
