Turkey is dry and tasteless.
Christmas pudding is gross and so are mince pies. Don't know how anyone liked them enough to make it into a countrywide tradition to eat them as any kind of celebration meals.

"Not fussed for any of ‘em, to be honest, but are you?, or do we just buy them because “that’s what you do” at Xmas?"
Nope don't like any of them and don't buy them. I buy plenty of other Christmas crap though |

Who doesn't love turkey sandwiches, that's the whole reason for having turkey for Christmas.
Mince pies homemade are always the best, but not fussed on Christmas pudding but we do love the baileys cream. |

I like turkey as long as its not over cooked and dry and then cold left overs in sandwiches the following day.
A good christmas pudding and cream or brandy sauce but its got to be a proper homemade one, the supermarket ones just don't come close.
Not really a great lover of mince pies though |

I like them all although will only buy 1 pack of mince pies at crimbo. I don't buy turkey as we prefer salt marsh lamb, and only I eat a Christmas pudding and therefore I don't bother.

"Xmas Puddings - No, gross
Turkey - No, even more gross
Mice pies - Yes, they're quite nice "
Mice pies? I'm guessing there's not a lot of filling in them. |

A Turkey is for Christmas, not for life!
Yep, love it all.
(Although for years my Parents and Grandparents would always cook a Cockerell rather than a Turkey, as we find them a lot more succulent) |

Love Christmas pudding,. Enjoy turkey if cooked right. Prefer it more in sandwiches with pickle or in boxing day curry.
Mince pies I can give or take.
I do a mince pie and marzipan strudel. It's very popular. |

Good question, I think a lot is what we're supposed to like. I guess once years ago turkey was a treat - maybe it tasted better than it does now. It's OK but definitely not worth the fuss. I love Christmas pudding & mince pies though! |

Just about to brine the turkey ready for cooking. Stick the bastard in a bucket of salt water overnight, with fruit & spices, cook it upside-down, wait to cool.
Slice, freeze and have much less shit to do on the day. Tastes lovely, too.
Always cook your turkey upside-down, as not only does it keeps it moist, it also gobbles up...
I'll get me coat... |

I'm not too fussed about turkey, it's a bit bland. I much prefer a goose.
Christmas pudding and mince pies - hell yes, with a dollop of extra thick cream please. I refuse to eat any until December though. |

Gonna sound daft but I always freeze a few mince pies and have them at the beginning of summer warm (not hot) with a big dollop of cream (not the special kind guys ok) don’t know what it is having them mid way through the year but I love it. |

I buy the pies when available because they taste great in custard regardless of season as for turkey been many years since ate as I prefer chicken. Might just be fish and chips way things are going |

Just finished carving the turkey I cooked earlier today, and will be freezing portions for Christmas day and beyond, as well as boiling down the bones for stock.
If you do it right, freezing doesn't affect the taste, and means one less thing to take care of on the day.
The only downside is that the whole bloody house has the aroma of turkey through it... |

Yes I like them all.
But (and it's a very BIG BUT)
I can't stand all the BS that surrounds them.
Spending a fortune buying them (and every other foodstuff know to mankind) trying to navigate around the supermarket while being bumped and banged by lunatic women with trollies piled higher than the average truck.
Then (after soaking your bruises) you start preparing the night before so you can spend the whole of the next day cooking it, laying tables and making sure everything is "perfect"
After all of this the "family" turn up, shovel it down their necks (one handed of course, the other is chatting on the mobile) and five minutes after they have finished make their excuses and piss off.
You then spend 2 hours cleaning up (usually 3 dishwasher loads) pour down a large brandy and fall asleep in the chair.
Merry Christmas........MY ARSE. |
