Great tough guy's of yesteryear

Hwang Jang-Lee: Star of a huge slew of martial arts films from the 1970’s and 80’s (in which he typically played the baddie).
Still one of the greatest screen kickers ever and apparently once killed a real life assailant with a single roundhouse kick to the head(!!!) |

"Agree with Lee Marvin. Ex USMC, fought in the pacific against the Japanese, and is buried in Arlington Military Cemetery.
And he could sing too, sort of .."
Do you reckon he was born under a wandering star?? |

"Sean Connery.
Michael Caine."
Michael Caine is a Korean War veteran. He said in an interview a few years ago that he still has nightmares about his experiences during the war.
Respect to him |

Ha ha, yes...you were right to add "sort of". He more growls than sings.
I found it admirable that despite being a massive Hollywood film star of so many great movies, he chose to be buried in Arlington, and his Grave Stone simply reads:
Lee Marvin
PFC
US Marine Corps
World War 2
No Hollywood glitz or glamour. Just a simple grave among fellow servicemen |

Some of the names mentioned in this thread just go to show you how effective actors’ personal brands and marketing of said brands were even back then. Cos a lot of them weren’t actual tough guys at all, just portrayed that way.
Anyway Jackie Chan was/ is a tough SOB. The amount he put his body through to nail fight choreography, and do the majority of his own stunts - multiple injuries. |
