I actually have been able to smell fish for a week. This awful, horrible smell lingering somewhere upstairs. I did smell my fanny just to make sure but it wasn't that. I eventually found out it was the shower switch. You can sometimes smell fish if there's an electrical fault.

A fun fact there for anyone who can randomly smell fish. You potentially may have a serious problem.
