Good folks: I’m being nosey yet again.
This time I want to enquire as regards your slumber.
How many hours do you get a night?
Is it broken or do you sleep through the full amount?
Do you feel your sleep duration to be adequate?
How many hours would you ideally like?
In fact, tell me everything and anything about your sleep whilst I go for a nap |

I get about 7.5 hours a night sometimes I’ll wake about half way in for the toilet. But it’s been good recently.
I sleep really well in the cold. So I have my window open and door closed to keep my room cold whilst I sleep. |

I always used to sleep right through (about eight hours) but recently I’m waking up every two or so hours |

I have deduced from my broken sleep that I am clearly being abducted by aliens…. |

In this day of Apps - you can use your smart watch to monitor your sleep - I find it fascinating… heartbeat through the night… the moving in and out of REM, deep sleep… I’m getting around 6.5 hrs and I feel good for it… |

I sleep pretty good, get up for the loo mainly because I drink so much water but straight back to sleep no probs. Sleepio is a CBT focused approach to sleep problems which might help. |

I use to have a great sleep pattern but the last year and especially the last few months it's gone to hell.I am constantly tired and just getting broken sleep all night. Now I know a lot is to do with stress about things that are happening in my life. But I'd love to get a decent night's sleep and actually wake up not feeling like I barely slept. |

I average around 4 hours unbroken sleep a night and it's been that way for 20+ years.
Doesn't matter what time I go to bed but I wake once an hour anytime from about 1.30 onwards and I'm up and about at 5.30 every morning including weekends and days off.
I've tried every available solution to no avail including an inconclusive sleep study. |

"I don’t sleep well maybe 2 /3 hours, wake around 3 am toss turn . "
Have you looked into why you have trouble sleeping? Maybe have a strategy to relax more and sleep? |

Maybe around 6 hours in the weekday and 9 or 10 on the weekend. I'd love to consistently get around 8 hours every day to feel better but during the weekdays, I just find it tough to get to sleep but once I am asleep, it's generally undisturbed. |

Random (shocking!) Sleep Fact: The longest time a human being has officially gone without sleep is a whopping 11 days and 25 minutes (!!!) This world record was set by 17 year old Randy Gardner in 1963.
(I sadly know not how long he slept afterwards however) |

Extended periods of poor quality sleep have a very detrimental effect on a person's health; if you feel it has become a problem, it is probably best to ask your GP to refer you to a sleep clinic, or arrange it yourself.
If you are able to clearly identify the reason for the deterioration from a previously satisfactory sleep pattern to the present situation, a person of your calibre and life experience should be able to address the issue.
If not, an overnight stay in a sleep clinic might identify the issue; your sleep is videoed and your brainwaves analysed with an in depth analysis of your eating patterns, lufe issues, etc.
I think there is a sleep clinic in Belfast. |

5 hours in the week and Saturday night and I sleep straight through unless my son comes in at stupid o'clock and wakes me. If I'm not out on a Friday night I'll get between 7-9 hours unbroken sleep. |

The desired pattern of a single episode of sleep nowadays is very different that that which obtained several hundred years ago, when there was no light apart from sunlight and the moon's albedo.
People then slept in several blocks of sleep, and they would arise during the night.
Most people nowadays are sleep deprived, to their detriment.
We nowadays endure too much artificial light, too much external noise, too much activity prior to sleepung and too much late-night eating and drinking; which all collectively combine to delay our descent into deep sleep. |

My sleep clinic came back with a negative result
Don't know why they put me in a strange hospital room with lots of noise out side and lots of wires attached to me and where realy surprised I did not sleep at all have been invited back lol
But a private consultant prescribed a mix of drugs now I'm OK
Would not say good but I know when I need a good night get 7 sets of tables a month and it works for me. |

Crucially, sleeping tablets, some of which are extremely addictive, do not aid good rested sleep.
They facilitate your nodding-off, but otherwise are to be avoided; they should only be a very short-term measure.
There is a wealth of material about sleep on the web, such as Doctor Mercola's videos. |

I generally get between 6-7 hours of sleep a night
BUT
I have sleep apnoea so every couple of minutes or so the muscles in my throat collapse blocking my airways and I stop breathing for around 30 seconds at a time… my brain realises I’m not getting oxygen so it wakes me with a start (even though I don’t consciously wake), and then a few minutes later the process repeats itself, so previously I was exhausted during the day and would constantly nod off
Now I have a CPAP machine that forces air into my nose & mouth, keeping the airways open so I can breathe
Of course the payoff is that it looks like I’m in intensive care whenever I go to bed
No wonder people won’t sleep with me |

At the moment maybe 2 or 3 broken hours. I'm utterly exhausted. I'm a light sleeper and wake up at least once an hour, and to top it all off, my daughter refuses to sleep.

I generally get between 6 and 7 hours sleep a night. In the first half of my sleep I sleep deeply for up to 2 hours.
I aim for 7 and a half hours.
I hate getting out of bed!

I tend to get between 6-7 hours a night during the week, and longer on weekends because I can lie in.
I have always slept like a log right through...until I became perimenopausal, now I wake at least once a night with night sweats and can't get back to sleep until I've cooled down |

Naturally a bit of a night owl.
Super light sleeper, but I love it when I'm gone.
I'm literally like a bear with a sore head in the morning. Just leave me alone. I hate everything. It sucks. Sleep is friend. |

Mr here...lousy sleep pattern. It's 4am Spanish time and been awake and up since 2.30. As soon as I wake in bed I know there is no chance of getting back off again and I will just toss and turn uncomfortably for the rest of the early hours unless I get up and either try to read etc so as not to wake my lady. Sometimes do go back to bed about 6am and maybe lucky to get and hour or so before I'm awake for the day. Fed up dot com... |
