"They used to have a canal boat on a roundabout that was a pub - not sure if it’s still there? "
Yes it is. It's called the Dry Dock.
The Sistine Chapel Exhibition is in Leeds until 20 November and is spectacular |

Some interesting replies on here. Yes Leeds is not the most exuberant city in the world but certainly a lot of nice stuff to do some mentioned already, the royal armouries, the city gallery, Roundway Park, Victoria Quarter and Arcade with some nice shops, Harvey Nicks and the Ivy, Harewood House not that far and Harrogate amd Ilkley and even York are all close by and within half an hour. The countryside also all around Leeds is amazing. Yes Manchester might have more to offer in the centre but everytime I go recently I find it busier and dirtier. I ccertainly dont enjoy walking around the city but great if I know what I want and where I am going. |

A lot of things already have been mentioned but I would add visit Golden Acre park or Temple Newsam park, even Prince Charles last week visited Leeds museum and art gallery, drink at night in Sky lounge overlooking whole city, love walk near docs and Royal armouries taking water taxi one way. |

Pretty much this. Plus a few mentioned previously; Whitelocks (oldest pub in Leeds); Corn Exchange; And others - Roundhay Park and Tropical World, Harewood House, Leeds Indoor Market, a stroll along the Leeds-Liverpool canal, Kirkstall Abbey. Have a great time |

"I recommend the Royal Armouries.
Free and spectacular"
I’ll second that
There’s also a cracking little cafe just around the corner, overlooking the canal, it’s built from converted shipping containers. Great food and lovely ales |
