Iv never heard of it but it seems that people are flocking to this social media site in their droves since musk took over twitter. Are you staying with twitter or becoming a Don? |

It looks awful, and will likely just be an echo chamber for those of one political persuasion. I love the variety on Twitter and follow lots of very interesting accounts. |

"neither ... twitter is toxic and if the twitter folks move over mastadon will be the same"
Twitter is like any other social media platform and it's only toxic if you allow it to be. I don't find Twitter toxic but then I'm careful who I follow and what I look at. |

Exactly the same, hardly ever have bad experiences on there. |

Loads from the “Right” side of Politics (ie Right Wing) went off to alternative sites when Trump was banned from Twitter but the new platforms never really take hold and people end up staying on Twitter too.
Now the “Left” side of Politics are saying they will leave Twitter after Elon’s take over, this one seems to be one of the new platforms being suggested.
But like the others it’s not as developed or mature as Twitter yet and will struggle to maintain a hold.
It’s all a bit of hot air and will all settle down in a few weeks no doubt.

I think its just a chance for Mastodon to jump on the PR bandwagon. All they need is more than one ex twitterer for the headline to be legally true. It will take years for a platform to reach Twitters market level, so anything will pale in comparison right now. |

Way over Yonder, that's where I'm bound |
I can't work out how you're supposed to work out which server is best for you.
TwitTwat can be bad and I don't trust Musk's actions. If everyone moves, Mastodon and it's toots (colloquially farts in these parts) will also turn bad.
It may be time for me to give up social media.

It's going to be the extreme left platform. That's all it is.
The extreme right have their platforms.
Twitter for its good and bad is the dominating force and generally welcomes both.
The thing people (on both sides) forget to take in to consideration when it comes to "free speech" is that it's a private company, free speech does not exist in such things, you are tied by their rules, so long as it is within the law (though being globally used, certain things become blurred). It comes down to neither side likes to have their own side challenged or discussed and want the other side silenced.
I have little use for it myself, I may check on the odd tweet that has been brought to my attention but that's about it. |

I don't think it matters if it's the right or the left who frequent these sites they all want to abuse others who fail in their eyes to agree with their views or thier truths.
Politically very toxic sites that should be avoided. |

While I agree with the former, the latter is not exactly true.
It is the same as all social media, and something the majority of people fail to realise overall, its all about who and what you follow on social media pages. You can for the most part make your own little bubble of things that you want to see. Sure you will get a clash of different opinions even there, but that's people issue in general not social media as a whole. |

Never had a Twitter account.
Rarely if ever post on Fakebook.
Left instagram during the first lockdown as a direct result of the idiots wandering around in the mountains for their next gram and putting SAR teams at risk.
It's obvious at this stage that social media is an oxymoron.
