Well, like an egg, a sperm has only one sex chromosome. An egg will always carry an X chromosome whereas a sperm will carry either an X or a Y chromosome, depending which type fertilises the egg defines the sex of the child, so whether you could strictly say that a sperm is male or female is a stretch as it only carries half the number of chromosomes for a person, but it defines what sex the child will be |
