Let's pick the ultimate 80s pop song
Nominate just 1 and maybe a brief sentence or 2 to justify your pick?
I'll start...
Billie Jean by Michael Jackson
That driving beat and who hasn't tried to moonwalk? |

So what, now I've got to think up a MORE 80s song than Billie Jean by MJ? That's what you're asking me to do? Dude, such a song doesn't exist. Billie Jean is it, end of x |

Not all that North of North London |
"Bedsitter - soft cell.
Very melancholy and relatable. Mist of their songs of that time where.
"
The song that got me in to them, I knew Tainted Love (obviously) but Carter USM covered it which led to me realising just how incredible Soft Cell were! |

Such a great band. Loved Marc Almonds early solo stuff too. |

Don't you forget about me - simple minds
Amazing song that was perfectly placed on the Breakfast club soundtrack.
Life of agony did a great cover of it as well. |

"Lot of songs to choose from
Think personally
Bat out hell
70's"
Meatloaf songs were so long you'd start playing one in the 70s and it was the 80s before it finished |

I'm a professional session guitarist. I've worked with T'pau, Nick Kershaw, Tony Hadley , Hue and Cry, Katrina and the Waves, John Parr and a whole bunch of others. I love 80's rock, it's what I grew up on and it was an honour to share the stage with these artists. |

"Together in Electric Dreams by Phil Oakey and Giorgio Moroder.
Its synth pop perfection. One of those songs I never tire of hearing
One of my favourite all time songs "
I'll go as far as saying it's the quintessential 80s song |

For us its Forever Young from Alphaville in 88, and Belfast Child from Simple Minds in 89, so many memories from that decade for us, pulled some stunts back then aswell, and thinking back now, we do wonder how the **** we are still here today lol.....loads of other great tunes from the 80's, but those two are our kings of tracks! |

And Erasure were up there with the 80's top artists, also Depeche Mode turned out some good tracks, Personal Jesus being our favourite, and.....what about the one hit wonders like the cheesiest track ever from Glen Mederos, the one, the only one, where he's walking along that sun kissed Caribbean beach (its probably Brighton beach) pining for the love of his life.....check out those pants in the video.....the track was tacky and cheesy, but somehow, it sticks in your head for some crazy reason!! |
