…It’s not what you think
Delayed onset muscle soreness
For those that train, where is your least favourite place you feel it after a gym session? & where is your most favourite?
It was leg day yesterday, I haven’t squatted for a couple of months and really feel it *currently foam roller-ing
Least - Legs/glutes
Favourite - Back

I did my first lower body sesh at the weekend after taking some time out from squatting due to an injury.
Spent the whole of Sunday feeling like I had rods going through my thighs and butt could barely get out of my chair or climb the stairs.
Favourite place is probably shoulders though |

Dear jack
I don’t do gym as you might remember but I wanted to join in with your thread.
I like it when my glutes dom from step ups when I circuit train.
It feels good when you can’t drive properly because your arse muscles are on fire.
In all honesty… I’ve done no training at all since April.
I’m getting old and lazy! |

I'll always remember an athetics coach taking my old netball team for a few weeks. His warning at the end was....
"Ladies you might feel this tomorrow.... but you will FEEL IT the next day"

I like it when it's juicy, satisfying DOMs. The "oooh yes bitch, you worked hard and this is your reward" kinda pain.

Legs are least favourite because I walk and move like some sort of awful motorcycle road traffic accident victim.
Chest, because I'm deluded enough to think I'll actually transition from moobs to pecs.
I won't.
Ever. |

I have them at the moment from babysitting over the weekend.
My thighs and bum cheeks were so painful this morning I could barely walk, and my upper arm muscles are still burning.
No idea what the muscles are called, I just know they hurt like a bitch after babysitting.

"Abs I end up with a 2 day sit there
But new pb 732 sit ups
600 sit ups drop sets from 25kg
Then a fun set off 132 with 10kg "
Wow that’s a lot of sit ups! I’m not a fan of an cramps they seem to come on randomly throughout the day if I overtrain abs |

I don't have a favourite or least favourite part. I like to feel the ache as I know then I've done a really good workout and it's doing me some good. I've just started back training last week after quite a few months off. Working with a PT twice a week and exercise classes a few times a week too. |

Love: clichéd, but a pumped chest. Although also Lats as shows my form was good.

I don't get them too badly, thankfully. But glutes would have to be my worst - normally brought on by any sessions involving my pet hate, Bulgarian Split Squats!
Not sure I have a favourite, come to think of it... |

I really need to get my arse back to the gym regularly, I miss DOMS.
I like them best in my glutes and quads, I've got strong legs and I like to know I've worked them hard.
My least favourite place is arms and shoulders, they hurt like a bitch |

Yesss this is what I have in my hip (tendinopathy) and it's been so painful. I think it's from going from a progressive overload approach with my old PT to CrossFit programming, where they push you to lift heavy to get your max reps. I'm thinking of switching back to a conventional gym tbh |

Crossfit is a bit of a meme joke, so that might not be a bad thing to move on from it.
Honestly the form on their pull ups is, a sight to behold.

Weighted walking lunges - brutal on the legs and two days after it hurts to get up off the toilet.
I really have a love/hate relationship with DOM’s - I have found that a hot sauna/cold shower cycle really helps. |

Personally, I think CrossFit approach is very dangerous. They encourage very heavy lifting, seem unconcerned about form and seems to be zero consideration of the pelvic floor health of female participants. |

Hmm they have definitely helped me work on my deadlifting form, and they stop and correct you if they see you doing anything wrong.
But I agree that they push you to lift heavier than you should. |

Yeah that's the ones, just very unnecessary haha.
If you enjoy it though, fair enough, anything is better than nothing, but it looks like injury central.
Progressive overload, consistent training, eating like you hate yourself and binge eating to undo it all when sad.
My perfected recipe |
