"Car made of metal rather than the flimsy tin on today. "
I would have said that but the other way around.
When I started driving (and for a good while after) a 10 year old car was a rust bucket and ready for the scrap yard.
These days a 12 plate is classed as nearly new. |

"Bonnet mascots! I have an Austin A 35 with a lovely art deco A sticking out of the bonnet. not allowed on modern cars as they damage pedestrians when you run them over "
And they have a massive A imprinted on them so you know whodunnit. |

Volt meter, oil pressure gauge, opening quarter lights, ch()ke (manual or auto) after market undersealing, sealed beam headlights, metal dashboards, column change gears, front bench seats, that's about all I can think of but I'll probably remember a few more.
Under the bonnet: Points, condenser, coil (no it didn't stop the car getting pregnant ) glass domed mechanical fuel pumps, dynamo (as opposed to alternator) and OHV engines with adjustable tappets.
Suspension/brakes Etc: Front drum brakes, steering box, king pins, and leaf springs come to mind. |

Getting a handbook with instructions on servicing your own car instead of now where the handbook warns you not to drink battery acid
Services every 3,000 miles with a cylinder head removal for a de-c0ke every 12,000 miles |
