A few years ago in America Judas Priest were in court about swear words in lyrics in their songs, as part of their defence they enlisted a linguistics professor. He showed the court that the word bollocks derives from an old Anglo-Saxon slang word for a Catholic priest, it was the Catholic Church that took offence and deemed the word swearing.

The judge presiding the case threw the charges out and Judas Priest walked free from court.
