Heard about it but it's not the UK

Sooo for context...

1) there are no barriers on most USA tracks

2) out of commission tracks sometimes look like normal tracks that are live

3) depending on where the officers were from that might not be their patrol area to know if it was a live track

... Are they DUMB TO ASSUME it wasn't a live track yes... will she be heavily compensated YES!!

I should flaming well think she should be compensated. The newspaper report states that the train sounded it's horn.

But surely point 2 would mean you never fucking park on any tracks

Money isn't everything. I'm sure she'd rather not have been cuffed in a car on a train track than have a wedge of cash

Newry Down

A lot of cops in America are not of the highest calibre, because local authorities and many other statutory bodies employ cops who are biased, prejudiced, racist, etc.

For example, have a look at what happened at the Texas school shootings: the local cops fell down, but the federal guys moved in on the shooter, but too late, because the local guy blocked their actions.

If you watch the video, a) they park behind the "suspects" vehicle, which is why it was left on the tracks. Of course, they could have stopped before the tracks. Also b), the train is merrily blaring it's horn while they protectors of the peace happily discuss whether she might have tossed a gun out of the window before stopping, i't giving it full beans on the horn and they are utterly oblivious. Clearly zero situational awareness for anything other than "we might be in danger is SHE has a gun..."
