Tinkering about with the bio earlier and I'm wondering what the general opinion on something is...
I mention having a mini campervan (I convert my work van, I'll get a photo added to my profile but I've non with me in it just now so - not allowed, but it's nicer than it sounds haha)...
My question is, what comes to mind when someone mentions a van?
A - a night under the stars, a campfire, some nice company etc sounds great?
B - not getting in your van, you creepy bastard?
C - other?

"C - work.
But a campervan envokes a thought of a wonderful week away road tripping to some great places. "
That's why I tweaked it, for hiking/photography weekends... not used it for any "meets" yet but can't help thinking I should! |

And I used left over wallpaper and carpet etc from my living room, literally a home from home. I know the vibe I'm aiming for, just equally aware that it might read like I'm a wrong'un haha |

If someone I don't know, and they mention they have a kitted out van they use for meets off here then it's B. Sorry but I've had men say it to me before. One guy went into great detail about how his had all the restraints and everything he needed for a good time and yep I find it creepy that someone would kit out a van just for fab meets.
If it was someone I know and trust or they have a camper van not just for meets off here than that is different and it would be A. |

I have to travel from wales each week to spend a couple of days in the office. Travel in the campervan as it gives me the most flexibility for my work and travelling between offices when I need to, but equally I like jumping in the van and just taking off for a day, or few days as the mood takes me so that I can chill out and unwind |

Should say, the office is in sussex, not just down the road |

"I wouldn't have a fab meet in a camper van.
This for me too! See also trucks and cars. I like a nice bedroom or hotel room! "
Yep. One charming gent did offer to put a mattress down in an empty property he was looking after. He was prepared to cover it with coats and everything... |

So I’m definitely the first one killed off in a horror film. I think it sounds more like A.
But - I wouldn’t jump in the back of a van any quicker than I’d go back to their place. We also meet as a couple so that’s either safety in numbers or a target rich environment for a serial killer
Mainly I’m just jealous as I’ve wanted a camper van for ever… |

Well that would depend on how well I new the person
If say it was a regular who I had meet for 6-7-8 months to a year
I would say A let’s get the van rocking and do a dogging spot tour off the contry
If I didn’t know them at all and it was just some random or someone I had only meet couple off times
B sorry |

So far, I'm taking from this that the majority see it as creepy, and its a firm no. Some see it as creepy and oddly that's a yes and for the few that know me it's a yes (appreciate the endorsements haha)
Best approach, leave it on my bio as, I do love my wee van and if nothing else it's a hotel for 1... but maybe not off in my messages " wanna get in my van"
Good to know. |

As per my bio, some walloper offered (in his opening message) to meet in his campervan. In a pub car park. In Huddersfield. That was a straight up hell no.
I can't lie, so I'm gonna come right out and say that if it had been you, my reaction would have been different, and yep, that decision would have been based on your looks.
That says more about me than you, but here we are |

You say you convert your work van? Is that on a temporary basis i.e you pull out all your work paraphernalia and use that?
What can of Van is it? I would think a transit would be the minimum size.
Does it have hot and cold running water, a shower and post coital chill out area?
I would think these would be the questions the ladies of Fab would need before assessing the level of creepiness! |

Unfortunately there was a lady on the site that had a camper van, my first thoughts go straight to that. Does anyone else remember her?
Anyway on the strength of that it definitely wouldn’t be A
A bit of B
And C a hell of a lot |

A camper van roof trip sounds great, but I wouldn't get in one unless I knew the person very well.
So yeah, reading that on a strangers profile would put me off. |

Citroën dispatch. Yeah work gear out and bed etc in, storage for camping gear/photography kit, fire, supplies etc and a floating floor for tables, chairs and inflatable kayak, stove etc.
It's usually just me and my dog but you could easily sleep 2 or "fit" 3 though.
It's purpose has never been a "shaggin waggon" but can't help but think I'm not using it to it's full potential. Maybe the wrong time of year to be thinking about that though
No running water etc but I usually just use it for a weekend so bottled water and dive in a lake or a Loch to freshen up. I couldn't use it for a week or two unless it was at a campsite with facilities. It's just somewhere to chill out and get the head down after a day's hiking |

B comes to mind.
It’s nothing against you OP. It’s just that there are a few men near me that mention their van on their profile and in their status all the time, and they’re quite creepy men.
I even saw one of their vans parked near my place by coincidence. Gave me serial killer vibes. |

Hi OP
It's not an experience that I would seek from someone from fab unless I was away camping at the time. But tbh when I am away camping Fab is far from my mind.
Just an idea but there’s a camping forum on Fab which may have more people that this would be of interest to.

I’m member of the caravan club
Over 200 sites all over the country
Showers , wash machine , plugged in , and sorts to maintain the camper
I love it . |

Sure, I'll get in your van, strange man from fab who I've never met, so long as when I shine my nifty UV transilluminator around the interior it doesn't look like a Jackson Pollock. |

I think it only comes across weird if that's how you yourself come across in messages to people (wording).
And if you drive around with lots of rope, gaffa tape and bin bags in the back then most of us would leg it..... |

I myself are very wary of the trucker guys just makes me think a person in each port/town n puts me off!
However having experienced years of campervan holidays/weekends/nights away years ago with ex hubby I can u der stand the vibe to are trying to create! Maybe not as an opener on your profile n bring it up in conversation!
However saying that now being a hyper rite of my own words I have started writing a story that included a truck n well let’s just say OMG!!! |

Depends on the rest of the profile...
But if single it's a turn on because it means if we got along there could be nights if outdoor sex trips to outdoor sex adventures and more... Plus I like a self sufficient guy

"Okay, majority are going with creepy... Good to know.
Also, no free puppies.
Or cake.
But you’re secretly listing down the brave few "
No need... they got in touch
It's not something I'll add when messaging people (anymore haha) I guess I knew it could go either way, I was just curious to see what the majority would think.
I fully appreciate that it's unlikely for any first meets to take place... it was just if the idea of stars, music fires and fun appealled to others too or if it was just swanky hotels
Good feedback though folks... appreciate it |

My last fab meet was in the back of a van on the side of a dual carriageway. That is NOT why it was my last meet but my recollection was that it was a bit chilly and not totally comfy.
If someone said they had a camper van then I would expect a camper van (with a bit of comfort!) if it was a works van tarted up a bit then say that so folk are aware it’s not gonna be like the camper van’s you see on Insta under the #vanlife tag! |

As I’ve got to know you a little I’ll go with A, also given the fact it’s not much different than our boat which we think is perfect for a night under the stars but maybe to those just viewing your profile without chatting to you may go with B. I’d say the word camper in front of van makes a difference to what comes to mind |

When I had a van it never got in the way -- although I did once have someone photograph my number plate and text it to her mate (and I was fine with that).
If you've got a van because you like having a van, then it'll come over in your manner anyway.
I'm pretty sure that almost all men will be considered creepy at some point by someone, regardless of what they do or say, so just be yourself regardless of what anyone else might think. |
