If I'm with my 'family by choice' (male/female/friend/family/+more), just those I'm familiar with and totally comfortable with, I am outgoing and happy to let my real self out ...get a little crazy... throw my shoes in a corner and dance my little ass off... be a little silly and fool around.... all that good stuff
If I'm in the company of almost strangers or those people I just don't choose to be open with, I'd be very careful what I show, and be fairly introverted.
I definitely police my real self

Not often people actually know what they mean! True extroverts are actually rare .. and contrary to popular belief usually aren't and definitely don't have to be the loudest people in the room!
Another thing people get confused about is introverts don't have going out/people or social situations! |

I’m an introvert who likes to socialise but in a small circle of people and only for so long as it drains me |

My understanding, and I might be wrong, is it’s whether the situation drains you or charges you
Introverts find social stuff draining. Not that they don’t enjoy it, but it drains energy
Extroverts actually recharge with social stuff.
So after a hard day work an introvert might turn down a trip to the pub because they need to recharge at home. The extrovert would agree and feel better after going out
I think |

That's exactly what it is!
I'm an extrovert and you can literally drop me in any social situation absolutely anywhere and I love it and thrive! And can do it all again the next day ... |

My customary mode of daily interaction is predisposed towards extroversion, but I am now considerably more thoughtful and respectful than I was in my youth.
Age and experience has knocked the rougher edges off my personality (flaws) but my usual stance is to bounce out towards people, especially dog owners; dogs are the greatest ice breaker available and most owners are often receptive to being approached, when they see my true, genuine interest in their pooch.
One meets the occasional grouch or crank, but they are not the norm.

"I feel like many are confusing introversion with shyness!
Maybe you would like to explain the difference, as you perceive it?"
It’s already been explained in the thread! |

Extroversion and introversion refer to where someone gets their energy from. The difference between an extrovert and an introvert is extroverts are energized through socialization and collaboration, whereas introverts receive energy from alone time or in social settings with much smaller groups.
Introvert here, in a fairly extroverted career. |

For me, I love socialising in the sense of getting to know people and asking questions and deep conversations (meaningful) and stuff. But small talk and chatting shit as they say I'm not good at. Being around crowds or groups for extended periods of time drains me too. |

Actually both. It's very dependent on the environment and people I'm around. Just to add complication sometimes I'm an extrovert because I'm feeling that way. Sometimes I'm an introvert because I feel that way. But sometimes I'm an extrovert to mask introvert feelings and sometimes I act introverted when masking a desire to be extroverted. |

That's so me. Large groups drain the life out of me, too much noise, too many distractions but I love a good 1 on 1, maybe 2 on 1. |

Introverted extrovert. Saw a meme the other day saying something like 'I wonder how many Introverted extroverts got diagnosed with autism or ADHD later in life?' I was diagnosed with autism not too long ago. It definitely explains a lot of things. |
