We still don’t know. Maybe there waiting to see if she dead or ‘mostly dead!’
*one for the film nerds.
But seriously, what are they waiting for, to see what others are doing first? |

It's officially a Bank Holiday and the office I work for have confirmed that but we're still waiting to hear if we are getting the day off. I would like to be off to see the funeral x |

"So I’m told 19th in the UK is going to be classed as a bank holiday , is that the same as a public holiday ? Companies have to give you the day off by law? "
They don't have to give you the actual day but can include it in your annual leave entitlement if it is a required working day.
No one is entitled to the exact day off as many industries cannot close down for the day.

I was supposed to be at a two day conference starting on Monday, they've cancelled it (at great expense), and said the offices will be closed. I'm on a WFH contract so will no doubt log on and do some work anyway....I'll have a lie-in though, and probably watch the funeral. |

I went to a meeting today (not work related just a social but organised with a committee ) at which there was a 2 min silence......
I thought ...... fuck me ... are we going t have a two min silence at every sodding meet I go to this week ...... ?
Also .... I go to an evening class and they've cancelled next Monday's. The queen died apparently. |

Not been announced yet. Don't normally get bank holidays but they might make and exception. Wait and see if it gets brought up tomorrow. If not then I'll just ask and see what they say. Don't ask you don't get. |

Off Monday so I'll go to the gym in the afternoon and then walk the dog
Fingers crossed we'll get one for the coronation too
This generation is in the position where frankly we've gone almost a century since the last Monarchs funeral to probably having 2 within the next 30 years |

I really don’t understand this. In other countries the government declare public holidays and employees must give you the day off , a day off in leui or pay you. In the uk we have just bank holidays , they are not enforced and generally only people who work in banks, government or council & schools tend to get given them ? |

Self-employed and extremely busy, so trying to get extra hours in this week.
Will have a paperwork/accounts day on Monday.
Difficult for some but as the Queen gave us 73 years of service, then giving up a day doesn't seem such a hardship! |

Irish and have the day off work.
Although nothing to do with my country have to take your hat off to her and the dedication she has shown over the years.
Deserves a proper good send off |

Thankfully I’m on holiday now and for the next two weeks away in France & Spain.
We keep up to date on the radio on what is a historic moment but we are not overwhelmed by it.
Coronation to come - next year I guess? Then the investiture of William as POW. |

Yep. Clinic list has been cancelled and patients rescheduled. Slightly annoying as I've returned from holiday and am fully booked for the next 6 weeks. I'll have to expand existing clinics to fit Monday's patients in |

Yep, I made the decision to pause everything for a day.
Some clients aren't happy but the vast majority themselves have shut so my staff couldn't have worked anyway.
Team are happy to be able to watch along live |

No they don’t have to give the day off by law. Just ask anyone working in the emergency services or retailing - however I believe most stores will be closed for this one. Being self employed, I’ll be working. |
