"Is anyone considering going to London for the Queen's funeral? I know it will be mental with an additional 1m people there, but I'm on the verge of buying a train ticket .. I feel compelled to attend ![]() Considering trying to go for the lying in state, but there's no train tickets on sale from Manc for next weekend at all and Westminster Hall doesn't look very disability accessible and there's no info online at all. I don't know if it's a good idea.

"Maybe a lovely fabber might let you stay at theirs in London and you could travel the night before ?" That wouldn't make any difference to be honest they would probably be better to get a train into central London and walk. The tubes are insane going in towards Green Park, Westminster, St James's park And pretty much any zone one tube station at the moment. We went down to Buckingham palace at about midnight on Friday night and there were still thousands upon thousands of people there when we left at 2 AM. There is no quiet time here at the moment.

At midnight on Friday Green Park station was busier than it normally is at rush hour on a week day. They even have had to close it a few times as it's been too packed and that never happens.

"We have decided to see her when lying in state. Will go up Friday at midnight to hopefully avoid the crowds" There will be no avoiding crowds at any time you go. We went to Buckingham palace on Friday at midnight and it was still crazy. I was listening to a reporter earlier saying the expected wait time for people wanting to file past the coffin is expected to be over 4 hours at any time of the day. I'm not trying to put anyone off as I think it's important for people to go if they want to but I think it's also important for people to know there will be no quiet times.

"Re… the trains…. All the strikes next week have been cancelled.. so it’s more a capacity thing now.. There's been zero train tickets to buy from Manchester and back again on Sat or Sun since before the date was announced. Weekend of 24/25 is also unavailable to buy also. Other weekends available. I don't think Avanti have changed the ticketing since they called off the strike. Right… spoke to some old contacts from when I worked with the train companies… he said the trains are going to run, they may even try and put some more on depending on how many drivers fancy doing overtime … but because of the late strike cancellation notice they are not going to reopen advance seating as it needs to be done as a massive unblock… so trains are going to run non reservable.. and because of that the really really cheap tickets aren’t going to be available, but they are talking about removing all peak times restrictions on Thursday, Friday and next Tuesday Do you mind asking how it will work for booking disability assistance? You have to buy a ticket first then book assistance, but if I can't pre book a ticket.... Fabio, thank you so much for making inquiries ![]() That I can answer.. my job before the one I have now was in an assisted travel department of a railway company Book your assistance as normal, the station will normally try and seat you in one of the 10 seats closest to the wheelchair space (these are the seats that assisted travel would hold anyway) If they can’t do that, they will ring ahead to inform them

"My sister and niece are going to do the lying in state thing in London… Have to say I am awfully tempted to finish work early tomorrow and go up to Edinburgh to do the same thing… Ohhh i could go to Edinburgh instead... Hmmmm Would have to be tomorrow or Tuesday if Edinburgh. And they are moving her from St Giles to the Airport around 5pm Tuesday so I should imagine they'd have a shut off point on Tuesday for people wanting to pay their respects in St Giles I am still tempted to do it… I am now looking at the logistics.. there is zero chance you would get parked anywhere close, so looking at some sort of park and ride thing from somewhere on the Edinburgh tram, or a train station to get my into Waverley… I would also need to find out last ones out! " If you are going to go to see the Queen line in state in Edinburgh you will need to make a decision soon. They have said on the news this morning to expect queues of over 12 hours.

"Queues of 12 hours for the lying in state part. Who over aged over 50 can hold their bladder for that long?" I am not over 50 but I couldn't hold my bladder for 12 hours.

"Queues of 12 hours for the lying in state part. Who over aged over 50 can hold their bladder for that long?" I doubt they will be that long for four days, and sure toilets will be available!

"Queues of 12 hours for the lying in state part. Who over aged over 50 can hold their bladder for that long? I doubt they will be that long for four days, and sure toilets will be available!" It's what's being reported on the news today as people have already started queuing in London. Over 3 million people are expected to travel to London alone this week to see the Queen laying in state.

A 12 hour queue generally doesn’t lend itself to quieter periods.

"Have you decided to go midnight? I think on reflection it makes sense to watch it on the TV at home ![]() If I'm honest I think you will probably see a lot more. If you feel the need to be around people is there somewhere open air where they are showing it on a big screen?

"If you're able, just walk and avoid using the Tube. The centre of London isn't as big as you might think. I walked from Kings Cross to Westminster quite easily before. " This is true normally but at the moment lots of roads and Pavements are shut off.

" I did Euston to Embankment by wheelchair back in June, just about half an hour. The issue is getting TO London. Avanti aren't making tickets or timetables available until perhaps Thursday of this week, for the weekend.
