Does coffee make you poo?

I thought it happened to everyone but apparently it's only 29% of people. Are you one of those 29% of people who has a sip of coffee and then has to go to the loo for a number 2?

I thought it was the caffeine but it happens to people drinking decaffeinated coffee too.

It definitely gets the system going for me in the morning.

When I used to smoke it was even worse as the caffeine and nicotine both stimulated my guts

It's handy before a race. Get up early, drink coffee, have a clear out, feel lighter when I run.

Not so handy if it decides to make a second visit mid race though

It can. As I've got older, I've limited myself to one caffeine based drink a day, the rest of the time it's decaf. A friend who has IBS admits that more than one coffee wipes him out.

You might want to talk to your Doctor and see if there's anything you should be aware of.

And.... i'm out

Before I go, I saw on a documentary once how they use coffee enemas at some fancy detox places to cleanse the innards thoroughly

Somewhere In The Ether…

I’m not sure if I’ve ever experienced the correlation myself between drinking coffee and requiring a subsequent bowel evacuation but have indeed heard of others reporting it.

I’ve literally just had a cup of coffee though so will keep you posted on my poo progress

Yep, it happens to me. If I ever took the major life decision to give up coffee (as if!) I'd probably have to stock up on movicol to keep things regular and healthy.

I’ll go and do some sit ups; that usually forces it down the old outlet pipe

I always thought that was messing about with it or in it or eating it as opposed to getting off on actually passing it but I have never checked tbh

Coffee is much nicer than Moviprep, which is much more powerful than the infamous Picolax.

See picolax thread for details.

I've had Movi prep. 4 times faster than oats.
