quite a lot that have been mentioned are series I liked when they were first broadcast, very few have stood the test of time for me [maybe just getting old and jaded]

More recent [since 2020] series have been Falling Skies, Glitch, Night Sky, Under the Dome

Films I watch again Dark Angel [aka I come in peace in the USA], the original Terminator and Predator, a couple of the Alien films and the Arnie version of Total Recall. The other version is just meh!

Kpax, such a risky opener given the recent controversy and legal stuff.

Loads of fantastic suggestions here, so I'm really at the risk of repeating others. So in a futile attempt at originality...

As for film, I don't think anyone mentioned Robocop. Just perfect.

As for series, Battlestar Galactica.

Most have been mentioned but I absolutely love the new Dune and Bladerunner. The cinematography is stunning.

Here's one not many will have heard of "The Thing from another world" from 1951. It's a really good B&W 'B' movie that 'The Thing' was a remake of. Also the story for the 'Alien' movie was developed from this, same feeling of being trapped. So if you like those two movies you may like to see from where they originated.
