Does it bug you when you see people who say "Who?" or "Never heard of him/her!" on social media posts, often when someone has made in headlines or has died?
I mean.....how much harder is it to type their name into google if you really are interested in finding out more about them, and if not.....why bother commenting at all?
One of my pet peeves.

"Na it dont bug me asking questions is a good thing "
Asking questions is good.
Just saying 'Who?' isn't exactly constructive though. And it's commonly people in their 40's/50's referring to younger celebrities who it's no surprise they've not heard of.
What's the point?

It does make my eye twitch. I think it's often an attempt to appear disinterested (if you really were disinterested you wouldn't even ask) but sometimes people genuinely don't know who the person is or was.
I am blissfully unaware of a lot of current celebrities and famous people but I don't want to appear uncool so I Google |

"I also don't get a lot of meme references and film quotes.
The ones young people write totally baffle me. They're usually a geeky thing I haven't read about. "
I don't even really know what a meme is. If someone asked me the definition I'd be stumped |

I can’t even pronounce it correctly. I’m often shouted at by kids saying “mum it’s meeeeeeem not memaay!” |

I get the easier to Google part rather than asking "who?" but I don't see anything wrong with saying "never heard of them" because they are stating a fact and could still be none the wiser after googling.
I said it once on another thread after googling and finding no reference to anyone of that name and it turned out the vast majority hadn't heard of her either.
The op had gotten the surname wrong so the entire thread was one great "who?" |
